night sweats normal??

I'm ten days post op, I had an abdo hysterectomy,ovaries remain,and I'm am getting horrendous sweats already...is this normal??how long will it be before I'll have to have hrt,I left ovaries in to avoid this please help x

What you are experiencing can be a normal part of recovery. Following a surgery, night sweats can occur for both men and women. It can be a result of the anesthesia, meds, changes in blood sugar, and more.

Additionally, even though you have kept your ovaries, their blood supply can be interrupted during surgery. As a result, they may not work as efficiently as they should for a bit which can lead to some menopause and/or PMS type symptoms.

A couple ways to deal with night sweats is to be sure you don't sleep with too many blankets or wear heavy nightgowns or pjs. You may also want to have a fan on during the night.

If you have concerns, talk to your doctor.

I was about to ask about night sweats and daytime sweating. Day time last about 5 minutes or so max various days since the op and I am 15 days post vaginal hysterectomy. I am also struggling to sleep thru whole night, but I thot maybe it was a side effect of Tramahexal. I am 34 and not sure if it could be the start of menopause or is it too early after the op...confused

I'm up and worried too because I'm sweating and have my ovaries. I'm 12 days post op and 42 years old. I feel warm all the time.

I also have my ovaries in, but today so far is normal for me. No sweats, have little abdominnal pain and cape town is raining today. Before the op, I was getting up during the night to go to the loo, but now it feels different. I'm going to monitor the sweats, insomnia in a diary and then tell the gynae...

I too have night sweats. right after my surgery I would have to change jammies twice a night. now only once or twice a week. my doctor said this is normal and should get better. If this is the worst of my recovery...I feel blessed! before I go to bed each night, I make sure I have a few extra sets of pj's by my bed so that I do not disturb my husband

I kept my ovaries, and in the first few weeks, I had night sweats and warm (not really hot) flashes. When my ovaries kicked back into gear, those symptoms went away. Except I did have one final warm flash about three months out. It might take a couple of cycles before your ovaries find their groove again.
