About to start my bowel prep. Getting very nervous for tomorrow and actually got a little weepy last night. I would love some encouragement. Thanks sisters!!!

Re: Hysterectomy tomorrow

Try to get some rest tonight. I found it hard to sleep the night before. Once you get to the hospital try to visualize calm images and remember to breathe. Being in surgery reminds me of a good nap you close your eyes and then wow you open them and your done. Warm thoughts for a successful surgery and happy healing

Re: Hysterectomy tomorrow

Mandapanda wishing you a successful and uneventful surgery and recovery. And I hope that prep is going well. Be sure to drink as much as you're allowed - it will help tomorrow and beyond.

Re: Hysterectomy tomorrow

For me, the waiting was honestly worse than the day itself (and first day or two after). I worked myself into a ball of nerves. I could barely eat or sleep.

I stayed up till 1 the night before and woke up at 3:30; I had to leave home by 4:45 to be at the hospital on time. Honestly, once I got to the hospital, my nerves greatly settled down. I am a person who calms down by distraction, and one of my favorite ways is to talk to others -- I made it my mission to talk to and get to know every hospital staff person I came in contact with. It not only distracts, it's fun, too -- so many interesting people.

Ask for something for nerves as soon as you get there. Once your IV is in they'll give you something to help ease your nervousness (in my case, Versed). After that, you won't be phased by a thing -- life is good.

Good luck! Hugs! It's almost behind you!

Re: Hysterectomy tomorrow

Good luck!! Sending healing thoughts! I was a wreck the day before and was such a baby about doing my prep that a friend had to come over and be with me while I drank it! I didn't get much sleep at all thanks to bowel prep and nerves so didn't feel great that morning but they started fluids right away which helped and yes take the Versed!! You will be fine and it's such a relief to have it be over. I think the anticipation is worse than the actual surgery!

Re: Hysterectomy tomorrow

Just wanted to drop by to say I had my surgery first thing on a Monday morning too. I got oddly calm right before bed and just told myself I had done all I could to get ready, now it's time to relax and let the surgeon do his job. I was so busy when I got to the hospital, I had little time to worry. Before I knew it I was waking up in recovery.
