Surgery is tomorrow
Hi everyone, I'm new here and as I sit here anxiously drinking water and getting ready to take my Fleet's enema, I find myself anxious about the surgery tomorrow. I am a 49 y/o female, three healthy grown children, divorced and living with a significant other man. I've had many surgeries over the years (back, sinus, rotator cuff), but I am anxious about this one. Is it my age or what. Any advice you can give would be appreciated.
Just another hystersister! -Peggy

Surgery is tomorrow
Hi Peggy!
I hope all goes well with your surgery tomorrow. You'll get support from your Sisters now and of course after you are back home recovering.
Being anxious about this surgery is perfectly natural for many reasons--I'm sure we each have our own reasons to be at least a little apprehensive. It's a very personal surgery!
If you want any last-minute reading, check out the information in this link: Pre-Op Page.
I'm sending all best wishes for your surgery and recovery!

Surgery is tomorrow
Hi Peggy
and to this site...you will find out that it is a true blessing
I remember those "fleet" moments but it is not as bad as it seams.....just do follow the instructions on the box, I didnt have any bad cramps, and I "went" 3-5 min. after. I went a total of 2-3 times after that and that was it.
believe me when I say that the waiting is the worst part! tomorrow, it will all be over and you will be on your way to recovery
those feelings you have are normal, we all had them...but think that the hospital people are there to help you feel better and be painfree.....
pray that you have a smooth surgery and a painfree and quick recovery...hang in there....
see you soon on the post op side

Thank you all so much for your quick responses. It feels good to know you are out there in "internet land". There is a real peace in that. I know I'm not the first to have this procedure, but when you are having it for the first and only time it is nerve wracking. I will have a TAH BSO. I have large fibroids so will be going through the tummy instead of the vagina.

Surgery is tomorrow
I had my surgery April 17th. I am 55 yrs old. I had according to my doctor a hugh uterus and hugh fibroids. Thank God no cancer. I did really well. I will be returning to work next Monday April 16th. The most important advice I can give you is let your body rest after your surgery. Being older I did not bounce back like some of my friends who had their surgery in their 30's. I was cut belly button down, 22 staples. My husband was a trooper plus my church family was fantastic. They prepared meals for us for the first 2 wks. Good luck and remember you will feel so much better after your surgery.

Surgery is tomorrow
Hi Peggy,
Welcome! I am having my surgery on 6/24. Also a TAH/BSO because of large fibroids. My doctor has to go through my belly because of the size of my uterus and fibroids. Good luck with everything.
