Car wreck at 3 weeks post hysterectomy

I was in a car accident today, I feel okay but was jarred pretty hard when the guy pretty much tboned me! He was flying too!! I never even saw him coming. No bleeding or severe cramping, but just sore all over!! My seatbelt caught me right across my incision area too Anything I should be worried about internally?? I had a supracervical hysterectomy on 3/13!

Hie thee to the ER or a doctor RIGHT NOW and get looked at. Make sure they use a fine-toothed comb. And get everything documented.

A friend had a similar experience ( without surgery) and now is in constant agony and on tons of meds, so for legal and medical reasons you should get looked at ASAP. She felt fine, too, at first.

Re: Car wreck at 3 weeks post op

Years ago, I was in a very minor fender bender, and have had serious neck issues ever since. GO SEE A DOCTOR to ensure that you are OK. Your adrenalin runs through your body after something like that, and so you think you are only sore. But you do need to be checked out, especially since you have so recently had another major trauma to your body (surgery).

Re: Car wreck at 3 weeks post hysterectomy

Thanks everyone!!! It was 2 days ago and I haven't gotten checked out b/c husband didn't think it was necessary and even my surgeon said as long as i feel no severe pain or have vaginal bleeding I should be ok. I've noticed being really lightheaded yesterday and today, especially when I stand! IDK what to do when nobody else around me thinks I should be checked out b/c "I feel fine" UGH. If I keep feeling this dizziness in my head I'll at least hit up the doc in a box on the way home from work today. Thanks ladies for the support!!

Re: Car wreck at 3 weeks post hysterectomy

Please don't take that chance, I didn't see a doctor either for a month. My accident was at a stoplight, bumped into the car in front of us (so not even 5 MPH at impact). I had a hairline crack in my neck, couldn't drink anything without either a straw or holding the back of my head up for over a year, and to this day, still have serious pain and issues due to this.

When you are in an accident, your body shoots adrenalin through your whole system, which helps with pain management. The reaction can last for several days, so that is why many people often do not feel sore until the next day or so after serious trauma. It helps relieve the stress (and pain) in your body for a time period, but because of this, can also cause people to think that they are OK, I just have a headache or a little lightheadedness.

Please see a doctor, let them know that you were in an accident and recently had surgery, and are having some minor issues that you didn't have before. You need to do it for you, regardless of who else thinks that they know what is best for you. Only YOU are you.
