Painful constipation one week after hysterectomy

Painful constipation anyone had this happen going on 1 week op on Friday the 10th and can't seem to regulate bm and it is so painful 😝😭 any advice would be really appreciated. I've tried miralax colace so far

I used stool softners and ate prunes to lessen the constipation. Eating apples for some reason also helped. It does get better with time.

Be careful what you are eating it may be causing constipation, also I took a stool softener for almost 8-10 weeks after surgery! Good luck and hope you fell better soon!!

Milk of Magnesia and cucumber infused water ( slice 1 cucumber in 1 gallon of water, fridge overnight). I feel a ton better and only 5 days post op. Usually it takes me over a week after abdominal surgery...but I felt so terrible! After my first BM, my pain levels are halved. Good luck! Prayers up!

Thank you girls I'll for sure try the cucumber water and try prunes I hardly ate anything other than fruits and veggies my pain is OK now I haven't taken my meds since they seem to make it worse.. hope you all have/had a good recovery . ((Hugs))

I'm 11 wks and still have to use softeners and miralax on occasion. I have to avoid cheese, chocolate, rice, white bread, etc. I hope as my mobility increases this will resolve, been eating more foods w magnesium spinach, beans, etc. I bought a whole array of beans the other day. Peaches and popcorn work in
My favor as well. Canneli beans work good as a dip w garlic and spices . Oj daily also seems to help. Yeah the pain meds are the worst. Probably why I use my heating pad alot, still. Any time I lay down. have you tried suppositories ? Zofran also made mine worse.

I had horrible constipation after my surgery. Last week I took some store brand sennicot. OMG... I think the abdominal cramps from that were almost as bad as my monthly cramps that led to having the hysterectomy. Thank goodness it only lasted for two hours, but it was a horrible two hours. I've switched now to just taking the stool softener and drinking lots of fluids.
