Re: 4 weeks post hysterectomy: Why to use binder and up to how much time?

I love my binder! For me, it just takes off a lot of the gravitational pressure and it seems easier to walk and do simple chores with it. If you're one who holds onto your belly when you walk, it may help quite a bit! I have left mine on most of the day.
I hope this helps!

Some women love their binders, others don't find them to be of any use. I had a TAH with a 7" vertical incision and never used nor wanted a binder. If you have one and it helps, then use it. When it stops helping, stop using it.

Re: 4 weeks post hysterectomy: Why to use binder and up to how much time?

I had my binder put on the morning after my surgery and I can't live without it. I only take it off to shower. When I get out I tend to leave it off for half an hour to an hour just to make sure everything has a chance to fully dry and air out. But I feel so loose and wobbly while it's off, and walking sucks without it. I'm planning on wearing mine as long as it's comfortable and feels like it makes a difference.

I still use mine during the day when I am working. I used it every time I was out of bed, and unhooked it while laying down. I bought one from Hystersisters, but actually prefer the 10" one I got at the hospital, so I ordered one of those too. I have three. I feel supported and protected, plus I can stay upright longer without pain.
