Re: Bathing

Hi
I had a TAH too. The nurse told me it was ok to bath when I got home as long as I didn't sit and soak in there and didn't use any soap. She said don't let the wound get soggy.
I then read a lot of ladies were told to wait until 6 weeks so they didn't get an infection in their vagina. So I decided to wait till about week 4. This was also because at that point I was able to get in and out of the bath without help. I didn't use any soap at that point and made sure I dabbed the incision down as soon as I got out. (and made sure not to get any water up my vag)

So you will see different guidance from different people. If you're concerned perhaps call the doc? x

Re: Bathing

I had a LAVH and had to wait 2 weeks to have a bath. It was HEAVEN when I finally could and I've had a bath every night since!

Re: Bathing

You should ask your doc, who will probably see how well your incision has healed. You don't want to have your incision area come into contact with germs that are in your bath water...Oops, it looks like your profile on this page states that you had a tAh. Still, I would check w the doc.

Bathing

I am almost 3 weeks out and my Dr said no baths, no pool, no beach, and no ** tub for at least 6-8 weeks. There are tons of stitches inside so i guess that is why and chance oc infection is so much greater with a wound healing. Plus most people's tubs are not as sterile as they would like to think. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

Re: Bathing

I asked in the hospital before I left as I love baths. I was told I had no restrictions on baths. I had one within a few days of getting home. But I found it was too hard to get in and out [ I did get help ] and not as comfortable as I would have thought it was. I left it for a bit. I suggest you leave for a couple of weeks at least. I found getting out I felt dizzy. xx
