Single stitch on the outside right above my vagina?

One question I have which I should have asked my doctor about...is why do I have a single stitch on the outside right above my vagina? I asked the nurses at the hospital and they said at first it might have been for drainage but then another one said that my surgeon doesnt do that? Anyone else have a stitch there? May be related to my anterior and posterior repair or the vaginopexy?

Hi I would call the DR's office and ask. I would also make sure to get a copy of your surgery report while you're at it -- your DR's office should provide you with one upon request; alternatively, you can obtain one from the hospital where your surgery was performed but usually they will charge a copying fee. The surgery report details everything that was done.

My guess is that it's related to the vaginopexy. A&P repairs are done vaginally, but since the vagina is sutured to the anterior abdominal wall in a vaginopexy it's possible there was a tiny incision to do that.

Thank you for the reply. When I go for my 6 week apt I'm going to ask him. It just seems weird that they had my entire stomach opened up for the hysterectomy yet they still needed a small incision about 2 inches below it as well. Thanks for the advice regarding the surgery report as well...I'm definately going to ask for it
