Stressed out having to wait

I will be having a hysterectomy this summer for severe menorrhagia. My transvaginal U/S was normal, so my doctor believes it is ovarian dysfunction. I'm really stressed and aggravated about having to wait until summer. I am a school nurse, and it is just not feasible for me to take that much time off during the school year (don't have enough leave time). I'm just miserable with all of this bleeding and waiting is making me worry and think about it more. I just don't know what the best solution is for me in the meantime.

Re: Stressed out having to wait

Has your dr prescribed Tranex Acid? I took it for a few months before mine and it really cuts the bleeding down.

I have had it before. It causes me severe headaches.

Easier said than done but my advice is don't focus on it, and don't count down to it.

Start a long term project maybe and focus your efforts on that. For example a complete do-over of a room in your house. I've decided to focus my attention on finishing a quilt that I've started and allowed to sit packed away for the last couple of months while I've wallowed in what is to come. I'm definitely having a do as I say, not as I do moment.

Another good focus would be to look after yourself with diet and exercise so you go into the surgery in the best possible physical shape that you can. Think about it as improving your quality of life though, rather than preparing for surgery. I was hoping to drop 20lbs before mine. So far I've more than doubled that and still have 6 weeks to go. The new goal is now 50lb and to become more active.
