Blood in urine

Hi all,

I went to the doctor on Monday April 18th, and they rushed me around getting the ultrasound and then coming back on the same day to talk to the surgeon. I have a 9cm fibroid on my 20 week size uterus. They also found blood in my urine. Anybody know if that is normal ? Anyways, they have scheduled my surgery for April 27th.

Also, are there any support groups for the hubbys ? I came home from work yesterday and my significant other was crying. I know that I am scared ( mostly of the post-op pain ), but this forum is helping me with not feeling alone. I don't know if he is worried about the surgery itself, or if I will be the same after the surgery. We hear lots of stories about how this will change the women's sex drive and pleasure. I sure hope it doesn't do this.
What a bummer that would be ! Huh.

Later,
CODER

Blood in urine

Hi,

Just had my TAH BSO on 3/10/05, but wanted to tell you that blood was first found in my urine at my annual check up about 1 year ago. I had every test done - IVP, ultrasound etc - to find the cause of the blood (it is only a trace amount, not visible) and it has basically been determined that it is now "normal" for me since all tests came back negative. I get a urine test every 6 months and as long as the amount of blood has not increased, my Dr. is happy. Will be interesting to see if blood shows up in my next test after surgery.

>>>

hi coder,
it wasn't till 1997 that my ua's began showing red blood cells at first above the labs normal range. never had happen before.
at least the initial dr. tried to find out why, but could not identify the reason and gave up.

when i started really swelling in my body and spilling protein and had red blood cells in ua, about 4 yrs ago was sent to a nephrologist.

he couldn't find a reason for red blood cells and spilling of protein, after blood and ua testing. and i still cannot repeat what he said to me, except that it was truly insensitive and ignorant

ultimately after each dr. could not identify the reason for these symptoms, they just ended up saying that it was just normal for me.

i will be very interested in my ua results since hysterectomy to remove all the fibroids, to see if this has been rectified.

i did so much research on this and came across info that said it was 'not normal' and some that said it was 'normal.'
sorry, probably just added to your confusion about what it really means. i think i wanted you to know, that i am still here and kicken. maria

Blood in urine

Several years ago, I was diagnosed with Hematuria (blood in urine). I had to see a urologist who did a cystoscopy and ordered a test (IVP) where they inject a dye into you and then take x-rays of it as it travels through kidneys, ureters, bladder, etc. Everything was ok on all tests, so I guess it can be in the "normal" range for me....I've decided not to worry about it unless I can actualle see the blood. I looked it up as well, and read that sometimes medical tests never find the reason...?? Hope it's nothing...
