Abdominal Recovery

Hello Everyone.....this is my very first post....so I am very new at this. This website has been so extremely helpful. I had my surgery on April 25. Abdominal uncision with 16 staples. My recovery has been going very well. Stopped my meds on yesterday but have refills if necessary. I sleep in the lazy boy chair which has been great. I tried one night in bed but could not rest well. My husband has pillows to support my but I was too afraid so the chair works for me. My nurse suggested using a blow dryer to keep my incision dry. I usually place the heating level on cool and low. I blow dry the incision and the has helped. Dr says I am doing well. Even though I feel well.....I still take it easy.....trying to make sure my incision remains in tact.

Re: Abdominal Recovery

Hello, mclau! Glad your recovery is going well so far and you're listening to your body and finding good solutions.

Remember to rest plenty, drink lots of water, eat well and go for gentle walks when you are ready. You're right to take it easy even when you are feeling better - you have a lot of healing to do. The next few weeks are crucial to your recovery.

Re: Abdominal Recovery

Sounds like you are doing well. Keep resting a lot and give yourself plenty of time to heal, even though you are feeling well. IT is good that you are recovering well!

I slept in the recliner for almost 6 weeks! and then off and on for another month or so, it was just easier that way!

Abdominal Recovery

Wow......thank you Love the Ocean.......I thought it was odd to still sleep in the recliner.....I thought I should be in bed by week 2 but your post has helped me to understand it is all about what feels comfortable when listening to my body. Thank you

Re: Abdominal Recovery

You're welcome, mclau, so do I!

I would have loved to be able to sleep in a recliner. It was desperately difficult to get in and out of bed that first week or two. I would certainly recommend it if you have one.
