Candy for the Nurses

I was reading in one of the forums tonight about bringing candy for the nurses. Did I read that right? Sounded like a good idea. I am always polite to my nurses and I never forget to say thank you and please to them as I know they are very busy doing their jobs. I was taught manners and to treat others the way you would like to be treated. This sounds like another way of being polite and friendly. I never thought of it. It doesnt sound overbearing does it?

Re: Candy for the Nurses

I would have done this if I had known that I was going to be staying. I was expecting to have laproscopic, but they ended up doing abdominal cut, so I ended up in the castle for 2 days.

Re: Candy for the Nurses

I have several nurses as friends and they thought was a great idea. So I have several different kinds in a separate basket. My friend just reminded me that I shouldn't forget the ones that can't have sugar so I got the sugar free kind too.

Re: Candy for the Nurses

I gave away makeup that I bought for free with my coupons.
I have a rather large gift box.
Soon I had nurses that weren't taking care of me stop in and ask if I was alright or "Do you need anything?"
Ditto for the blood work and dietary staff, LOL.

I had Physicians Formula, Loreal, Revlon, and Maybelline.
They loved the eye shadows, liquid make up, blushes, lip glosses, mascaras and nail colors.

I was fairly popular.

My DD is a nurse and she thought I was kind of nuts to give it all away.

I was a former pharmaceutical sales rep many years ago, so I remembered that sometimes ordinary things make good gifts to give away.

Candy is very good, though. Keep it by your bedside table and offer the nurses candy whenever they stop by.

I think it's a great idea. I wish I would have done it myself!

Re: Candy for the Nurses

We brought fresh bread and took some to the anesth. staff as well, who were so nice to me. I think a nice gift for folks who do a great job is never out of place--because (IMO) nursing looks like a hard job to me, and I'm sure not everyone says thanks like you did (or like most Sisters likely do). ;0

Re: Candy for the Nurses

We brought 6 dozen homemade chocolate chip cookies and a chocolate bunt cake - cookies were given when I was in post op to nurses, anesthologist and my doctor. I received A Lot of care and attention!

Glad I did it. They even sent me a thank you note!

~giggle~ I thought I was the only one!!! I actually was going to get candy, but my mom who is diabetic suggested a non food item. So I got the ONE thing I know nurses need-----INK PENS!!!!

You can NEVER find one when you need it!!!

What a good idea!
I also like the ink pens as a gift.
These are really good, thoughtful gifts.
