Cause of Discharge 4 weeks post hysterectomy

I'm four weeks out from a TAH. I've had discharge pretty regularly since the surgery. A pantiliner takes care of it. It's clear, but kind of colors yellowish on the pad within a few hours

Today I noticed a couple of pinhead spots of brown. I'm not overly worried about it. I went back to work today and over the weekend my brother was in town which necessitated driving him to local eateries that he doesn't have in Seattle. (Seriously...I think it's only so he can post about it on FB). I think the uptick in activity and the timespan since the surgery might be related to the spotting.

Anyway, I'm kind of wondering how long I'll need to wear the pantiliners. Before the fibroid bleeding took over and I was constantly wearing pads, I always had heavy discharge. Even when I was a teenager. It was so mortifying, I took on the family laundry chore so that nobody would see my panties. I've always read that the vagina is "self cleaning." I wonder how that rule holds without a uterus and cervix. Is there a point where absolutely nothing comes out anymore and panties look new and unworn at the end of the day? Or can I just expect that this is now normal and the walls of my vag are just doing it's thing?

At 4 weeks out, you've not hit your "new normal" quite yet. You still have A LOT of healing to go. Personally, I had discharge for 8 weeks post op, because of a fiesty stitch that wouldn't dissolve and let go and was irritating my vaginal cuff.

So - until then - nothing is the new normal for you.

13 months post-op, I am back to having a normal vaginal discharge. As I kept an ovary, it changes throughout the month, just as it always did, depending on my ovulation cycle. For me, it's much lighter than it ever, ever was. I don't ever wear panty liners anymore, ever, and most days, I might have a drop or two on my underwear at day's end. But that's its.
