Re: Scared, thinking about cancelling surgery

I had the DaVinci, and was absolutely amazed at how little pain I've had. Was in the hospital overnight, left the next afternoon, and the hydrocodone bottle is still unopened.

Before, I didn't have much pain, but the bleeding was ridiculous. Every time I stood up I felt like Niagara Falls was in my pants.

The only surgery I've ever had before was an emergency appendectomy. I even still have my tonsils. But I had endometrial cancer, so this seemed like the best decision.

The whole process could not have gone better, though I was scared spitless. I was scared of mistakes, of complications, and of the cancer being worse than they thought. I was scared of the hospital, scared of the squishy things they put on my legs, and scared of not waking up.

But I did wake up, they took the squishy things off my legs, and there were no mistakes, and as yet no complications.

I do still have to stop myself from stuffing my purse full of maxi-pads wherever I go...and my glove-box...and my suitcase...and my briefcase... That's a complication I can live with.

Re: Scared, thinking about cancelling surgery

I just got home from my TVH and was so nervous before I almost walked out of the OR take a deep breath and know what a strong person you are. I have found that having my family support here for at least 1 week has been the best thing for me so if you can have a family member closest to you stay with you.

Re: Scared, thinking about cancelling surgery

It's normal to be scared. My doc called me last night and told me my surgery date was moving up a day ahead and that was enough to freak me out even more. I say keep your appt and if in the end your still not sure, talk to your doctor and reschedule.
