Red blood?

Help me Obi-wan. . . .

I am two weeks post-op today. I bled the day after surgery, but none since. I lost a unit of blood in surgery, so I thought that was going to be it.

Just now and i went to the bathroom and when I wiped there was a smear of bright red blood. . . I have been really careful- I just increased my stairs to 2x a day on saturday, had been one per day. i've only gone out (riding, no driving) in the car 3 times, all short trips. I have a pad in now and it has a more brownish spot of blood in it, but it's not gushing or anything.

Should I be worried? Do I need to call DR? It's beyond office hours now, I hate to call emergency line.

Red blood?

Jenna,
Call your doctor if you need reassurance. My doctor told me that red blood could appear from time to time, even 6 months down the road. In the early recovery time I passed a blood clot when I was using the bathroom and it caused blood to expel.

If it's not heavy don't worry, maybe you just need to rest more while things are healing. You are still in the early stages of recovery.

Now that it is brownish that is a good sign, it's not fresh blood.

Take care!
