I'm sorry you're having this problem. Although it's not a common side-effect, I have seen ladies post with similar swelling concerns. If you'd like to try a "forum search" (click right on the main page of this forum) you'll find lots of posts to browse through. Here's one to get you started: https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...t=swollen+arms.

I'm afraid I don't know how long you can expect it to last and hope some ladies will be along who can relate. Wishing you all the best for your recovery.

Take care!

Barelysane, I looked and felt like a water balloon after my surgery. My hands and arms looked like someone elses, all smooth and puffy. My rings would not fit for at least a week. During my one night in the hospital, one of the nurses said something about how well my kidneys were working as she made trips emptying my catheter tube or whatever was down there. Another nurse mentioned that the doctor had used liquid in me during surgery (instead of air? I never had any gas pains.) and that was part of my puffiness. My face and neck, ankles, it was all so strange and full of fluid. Then once I was up and around and especially after I got home, I peed for days and days. It was amazing. I had gained about 9 pounds just from all this fluid and within about 7-10 days, it was gone and my weight went down to normal. I was never thirsty during that time, must have been all the water in me but I still drank a lot just to flush it all away. So don't worry, it does go away and fairly quickly. Good luck with recovery!

You might want to check with your doctor.
Also -- are you still drinking lots of water -- and are you going to the bathroom alot?

I was really swollen too after my surgery. They weighed me in the hospital the day after surgery and I had gained 5 lbs. They told me not to worry it was from all the fluids from the IV. The swelling was gone within 3 days. When I went for my 2 week check I was actually 2 1/2 lbs. lighter than before the surgery. I would suggest if the swelling isn't gone in the next few days then you should probably call your DR.

I was also bloated, even my bras wouldn´t fit properly. Instead of slippers I took my crocs to the castle and they were really thight. After I went home I had a lymphatic massage, given by a specialist, and it worked wonders in about 24 hours I could put on my crocs and around 36 hours I was back to normal. I would recommend you to get one, specially since if it is given properly is as soothing as a relaxation massage.
Hang on! things get better!
