4 days post hysterectomy: Swollen Stomach

I am 4 days post op and I was just curious how long your belly is swollen for? Does anyone know how long your belly is sore and tender for? I feel like I was hit by a truck.

Re: Swollen Stomach

You are so soon in recovery to think about that... It will eventually go down as you heal. However it can be up to a year for some. I still get it but only later in the day. I am 7 months post op.

Re: Swollen Stomach

Faith2014,
It takes some time before belly goes down. I am 6 weeks tomorrow and mine is swollen a little but more so at end of day from amount of activity. I drink tons of water and that helps allot. I wish you a speedy recovery

Re: Swollen Stomach

Does anyone know if something like Spanx helps for 2-3+ months post op to combat swelly belly? I'm in my sister's wedding in February and don't want people asking if I'm pregnant.

Re: Swollen Stomach

I am 6 weeks post op & Spanx are just fab! I have been wearing my Spanx slip since week 1 & it is supportive as well as figure shaping, but don't expect complete miracles, there is only so much they can do, but it will make your tummy feel more comfortable & make you feel more confident. Hey and buy some Zaggora pants for exercise, or just wearing to support your tum, they are wonderful, in fact I am so pleased with them I am motivated to share this find to the community.XX

I am over 5 1/2 weeks post op and still have a swollen belly. You will notice that that this condition will improve as time goes on. My incision (8" vertical) is still tender and numb to the touch. One day at a time.....................

Take care
