Post Op Bleeding--how much? how long?

Ok--I know some bleeding is normal. I really didn't have any at all until I was 2 weeks out. Now it is dark brown to light red and too much for just a mini pad. It is not bright red, nor do I soak a pad, so I am not really too concerned and I think it will be safe for me to wait until my appt on Tuesday when I will be 1 day past my 3 week mark. But, what a pain! I thought I was done with pads! I actually had to buy some yesterday!

Who else has this? Does it last much longer? I've probably been more active than most, but I'm not lifting, bending or pushing. I've only driven short distances with no pain. I have a little bit of cramping which I suspect has something to do with my slow bowels. I've had a few outings--out to lunch, to a movie, to Target and I make sure to take a nice walk each day. I do rest when I'm tired.

On a good note--I posted about my hideous incision last week. I am happy to report that it is now looking much better! The bruises are gone, and the incision seems pretty much healed. A small shelf still exists and I know that's normal

P.S. Thank you all for such great support!

Sorry you are having bleeding, but if it is not new blood it may be normal part of healing. I had bleeding for a week or so then it changed to brown, tan and then yellow and went on for 6 weeks. I did not drive for 3 weeks and was the princess resting and taking it easy so things would heal inside. The vaginal cuff is a wound and needs to get the chance to heal. It takes almost 6 to 8 weeks to heal initially and fully up to a year for some of us.

If you can try to put your feet up and rest in the day and let others do the errands and work around the house , as this is your time to heal so not to have problems down the road.

Hi,

Of course, your doctor's office is a great resource as far as what is normal. I keep hearing that light spotting for up to 6 weeks might be okay. Bright red blood is usually cause to call the doc right away.

I am at 6 weeks tomorrow, and I seem to spot lightly but only after I have overdone it. Once it took 6 days of complete rest to get the spotting to go away. I feel that if I had more spotting now I would need to call the doc - in fact he told me that at my appt. today.

You're pretty close to surgery yet so this is probably all normal, but again it's always good to put your mind at ease by calling the doc.

Hope you feel better soon!
Julia
