Pre-Op Over

Hi Everyone,

I had my pre-op this morning. My surgery is scheduled for Monday afternoon at 12:30. I can't have anything to eat at all on Sunday and have to do a bowel prep at 2 and 5 and drink yucky stuff with water. This sounds terrible!!! Any suggestions to make it easier? The doctor said I would not have anything until Tuesday and that would be clear liquids and on Wednesday morning I will get breakfast and hopefully come home. I will be glad when this is over. Anyone taking Prozac and know what affects it has on menopause symtoms?

Keep me in your prayers. Love to all my sisters!!!! You all have been great!!!

Pre-Op Over

(((((Garnett))))))))),

I did just an enema,as my dr ordered. But the ladies do say to drink it fast and have it very cold. Some use a straw to miss some tastebuds. Stay near the bathroom and have some tucks to wipe with, you may get sore.

I have read some recent articles that say some of the anti-depressants help stop hot flashes!!!!!! Check with your Dr. though. But it could be good.

Best wishes,

Pamcat

When you have this pre-op and get all of these instructions, who is the pre-op with? Your ob/gyn or your regular dr? Just curious as I see all of these instructions about the bowel prep, etc. and no one has mentioned it to me. I'm not going in until 7/29, but it's my curiosity that's killing me.

((((((arbkdbarb))))),

The Dr who will do your surgery is usually the one who gives you pre op instructions. If you don't get any, I would call the Dr. about a week before surgery and ask, if you don't see him again.

They all differ some have none, and some do alot of things. Always go by what YOUR DR says!!!! I can't stress that enough!!!

Best wishes,

Pamcat

Welll that is interesting because I just saw her again last week and she never said anything. Also, she gave me what she needed from my primary care physician during my pre-op, and it's just an EKG and a CBC. Maybe I don't have to do it!!!! Wouldn't that be nice.

Hi Garnett,

I turned into a princess June 17 and I can relate what you are going through. You are at the hardest time right now. Try to stay calm!
I also had breast cancer 11 years ago. I had a bilateral mastactomy and that was a lot harder than my vag hyst.
The drink is gross but you have to do it!!!! I had to take one drink at 8 AM and another at 1 PM. Once you start drinking just don't stop and have a second glass of water on hand just to get rid of the taste. Actually, it wasn't that bad! I began running for the bathroom about two hours later and it was all over by 3 PM. Definately have some "tucks" cleansing pads on hand because you will get sore. Don't plan on leaving the house either!
I had a lot of chicken boullion broth, jello, apple juice and pops and tea. I also made my husband and daughter go out for dinner so I didn't have to smell food in the house.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Best of luck!
