My date is coming up and I am feeling calm!

My date is coming up...June 4th, and I am feeling exceptionally calm! I own a retail children's clothing store and I have 6 fabulous staff members, 3 being good friends. This past Thursday I had everyone to my house for a BBQ and a Pre-Thank -You for looking after my business while I take off time. When everyone arrived, they turned my family room into a "HAPPY HYSTERECTOMY" party room...banners, balloons, gifts including a flannel "cough" pillow!!I attribute my positive feelings to the people I have around me, not to mention my wonderful husband. My 15 year old son is not too pleased that I will not take down the decorations! But he did promise me breakfast in bed and that he will keep his clothes off the floor! Over the next few days I am keeping myself busy with "self-pleasing" activities...hair trim and highlights, manicure and pedicure ( no nail polish, however!), lunch with a couple of friends, dinner for 2(my husband and myself), preparing my son's favorite meal...veal schnitzel! I hope I feel this calm on the eve of the "event!

Your surgery is on my one year anniversary. I felt totally calm myself. Well the bowel prep had me agitated, but the surgery itself caused no problems. When I arrived at the hospital I got antsy and when they took me into the prep area to undress I bit of nerves started peeking out. The nerves only arrived when they couldn't get the darn IV in the back of my hand and I finally said after 3 attempts, would you please wait until I'm asleep to try again. And they did.

I had a tummy tuck with my hyst and when the PS came to make markings on my belly I had a photograph of a sexy slim woman and I wrote on it that this is what I should look like when I wake up. He laughed.

I'm also scheduled for June 4th. I have done the pedicure, bought some new pajamas and loaded the house with all those special treats that my family and me enjoy the most. I am going to steal your idea and make a special treat for my 15 year old son. Maybe I can negotiate a breakfast in bed and a promise to pick up his clothes! I'm very blessed that I have a dh who is taking a week off work to pamper me and the yard! I'm looking so forward to resting on the deck watching the birds. Sometimes I feel a little guilty that I'm almost treating this like going on a vacation. I know it's major surgery and not something to be taken lightly. This is just how I've chosen to deal with it. I even bought a whole new set of undergarments and all the old ones are going out the door! I'm not feeling calm, but I am looking forward to moving on with my life. Even my co-workers are telling me that believe I will feel so much better. I believe my 2 + years of pain were way more noticable to others than I ever thought.

my surgery is scheduled for monday june 2 and i am feling somewhat calm too. i had planned as you to have my hair cut and colored and this is what really stressed me---they had to cancel my appt!! so no no do!!!! Oh well!! the people at work have been very nice and suppotive. and my doc. and her staff have been great--mine is at 7 AM so i wil not have to wait long!!! hope i am still calm on monday--good luck
