I've been lurking around here off and on for a few years now. I found this place after doing some research soon after I'd had a lap and they found fibroids, endo and suspected adeno. I'm having a SAH and bowel resection in one month and I am completely flipping out at times. I may lose one or both ovaries too, depending on their status. The doc said I will have a vertical incision and they will keep me on an epidural for a few days? I don't know how that's possible but that is what he said, to get me past the REALLY bad pain.

I was originally having a bowel resection for recurrent diverticulitis that has landed me a 5 day stay at the castle, twice in the past few months so they want to fix this while it's not acute. I never got my hx 3 years ago because I didn't like the doctor I had and I wasn't willing to have everything taken out like he wanted to do. I was 40 years old and not ready to go into surgical menopause for very mild endo. My new gyn wants to only take the uterus out which I am very happy about.

I don't think my pain is as bad as most of what I see here. I have cramps a lot, and my periods are so bad I have to take vicodin usually. My worst pain is during my period. The older I get the worse it gets! I never was a heavy bleeder, 5-6 days, a few days heavy with some clots but I don't usually need extra, extra, protection. I also feel a strange, heavy sensation down there most of the month, not sure what that is all about. I was told my uterus was about 12 week size when I had the lap done and not sure if it's grown any since then. I'm having a sono done next week to get an idea of how things have progressed in 3 years.

Anyhow, that's my story and I am scared to death at this point and my anxiety is off the charts arrrrrgh! I can't imagine a whole month of this

Thanks for listening

I think another post probably sums up the best way to get past the waiting is to focus on something you enjoy doing and concentrate on some "me" time.

I have been feeling very up and down this week and thought that the week would drag, but surprise surprise it is flying by. I wasnt going to have any time off work before the castle but on Monday I felt so awful I decided to book Thursday off! My DH has booked it off too so we are going to do something together maybe only just gardening but we might go for a meal in Norwich and do some shopping. My daughter will be at school so it will be a rare only us two day.

Then we have my DHs mum and dad round from Friday through to Tuesday morning so that time will go quickly although probably fraught as their doggy doesnt get on too well with my furry bundle! Then Wednesday is my pre-op day then monday - eek!

Hang in there. I am in a positive mode at the moment so hence the post, but no doubt a more downbeat post of my very own will follow soon.!

Take care .

Thanks for the encouragement. I sure could use it. I find myself at times thinking, "gee, maybe I don't have to have this done". Yeah I want 10 more years of pain every month...NOT! LOL I'm glad to know I'm not alone. Not a whole lot of support on the home front Oh well, life goes on and I will get through this if I can just keep myself distracted enough to actually make it to my surgery date ;-)

The various threads tell us LIW that the waiting is the hard part.

Join in the discussions and as you read the replies i hope that you will realize as I discovered that every wierd little thing you can't talk to anyone , is discussed here. Me Too! is my constant thought and it helps a lot to feel sisterhood with women who had so much in common with you. That helps me alot.

My biggest problem at the moment besides cramps from aunt flo -I hope she does not start a flood, is that DC Dear Cat is jealous of the time I spend at the computer and that i'e been to a funeral tonight.
