Continued pain

I'm just beyond 6 weeks since my TAH. I am daily experiencing pain on my lower left side. Is this common? It usually flares up in the evening or after I've been sitting up for a while. Frankly, my most comfortable positions are walking or reclining slightly. What do you think?

Re: Continued pain

I'm right behind you at 5 weeks, and you're pretty much describing me. I have been to my surgeon 3 times since surgery because I was sure this amount of pain is abnormal. He ordered a CT scan that showed everything quite normal, which was reassuring. While I get the impression my doctor thinks I am Whiney McWhinerson, I refrained from asking what HIS pain was like after his hysterectomy. I use a heating pad when the pain kicks in, and very sparingly take a pain pill when it insists on keeping me awake.
Of course if you have concerns, definitely see your doctor. My body is not your body.
Best of all to you!

Re: Continued pain

Oh...Forgot to say that I only sleep in a reclining position on my back. I have a wedge that I top with 4 feather pillows so I can mold them under my neck and get really comfy. Sitting for long periods? Not for me either. <3

Re: Continued pain

Elena, thanks for sharing your experiences. No, they don't know what it's like to have a TAH! I also appreciate the info about reclining. I'll let you know if I get any insights, too.

Re: Continued pain

I'm just at 2 weeks post-op and am having the same pain you are describing. Lower left abdominal pain after doing some light activity like walking. I have my 2 week checkup today and will be asking my doctor about it as it's a bit concerning to me as well.
Hopefully it's just part of the normal healing process. Good luck and feel better!

Re: Continued pain

At 10 weeks I am still having that issue, but on the right side. I have now seen the doctor about it twice. No matter how much it may feel like you get brushed off, as long as you know everything is ok, then this pain is normal. I went yesterday and they tested pee, blood pressure, temp, full pelvic with a vaginal culture and a very thorough incision check. My diagnosis, I'm doing too much and need to slow down. Everything is fine though. Call your doctor and keep to that bed, Princess.

Re: Continued pain

Thanks so much for your response and encouragement. Please let me know what your doctor says---I'm curious and my appointment is in 2 weeks.
Hang in there sister friend!
