Re: compexl ovarian cyst question
I'm not sure what a complex cyst is. I know I was told that most cysts are benign. Mine was 24 cm x 23 cm when they did the ct scan. It got bigger. They said they didn't know what king of cyst it was. At first they said that it was a dermoid but then said it was too big. It turns out it was a dermoid. At the time though my doctor said usually only 2 % are cancer.
I am thinking of you and the important thing is they found it and can now do something about it.

Re: compexl ovarian cyst question
Hi lovingme
Not sure about percentages. I know a lot of people have cysts that are benign. Unfortunately, no one can tell if something is cancer until they 'get in there' and look and sample. I know how frustrating that is, and how hard it is not to know. Many of us have been there. My best advice is to try to distract yourself doing things you love- hike, bike, garden, whatever you can do to try to take your mind off of the surgery for a while.
I did want to ask if you are having a gynecologic oncologist present during the surgery 'just in case'. They are the experts, and having one may prevent additional surgeries down the line. It is so important to have one available, if any suspicious cells or growths are found. They greatly increase your chance of cure and survival, if cancer is present.
Take care

Re: compexl ovarian cyst question
Hi, I also want to wish you well tomorrow. A complex cyst has both solid and cystic parts versus a simple cyst which is fluid filled. The odds of it being benign versus malignant varies with other factors(like age, pre or post menopausal, etc.). I was assured by my gyn/onc that most turn out to be benign but I had a 6cm tumor and it was malignant. The good news is that I am cancer free now. I'll be praying you get a benign outcome. I know you are scared. I was so ill the night before my surgery frin fear. You will find you have the strength to make it through!!! Please keep us posted on how you are doing!
