Referred to Surgeons

Hi All!

I made the decision today to proceed with an LAVH and my NP sent over my information to the surgery group for a consult. Thankfully I have already had an abdominal ultrasound, transvaginal ultrasound and uterine biopsy...so I'm hoping that will speed up my date for surgery.

Does anyone have experience scheduling an LAVH? I have no idea what kind of timeline to expect!

I believe you are in an HMO? I'm in a different one, but for me, calling Customer Service was helpful. They can say how long it takes for preauthorization and what else you might need to do. Between them, and the surgeons office, you should get the info you need. Best wishes it all goes smoothly.

Thanks greyown! I emailed my NP this morning and she said I would receive a call to schedule my consult. I should be able to get my questions answered then. You just never know with HMOs....the wait can be horrible!

One good thing with the HMOs--they have protocols and procedures and generally the Dr's are familiar with the drill. And they are familiar with the time frames for all the steps. I think it went pretty smoothly for my case compared to non-HMO friends. I'm sure it varies HMO to HMO but I think they operate the same general way. I hope you get the date and have a short wait.
