Did anyone get a staff infection after their TVH BSO? I was doing great after surgery, up and getting around without pain. Day 12 landed me back in the ER with severe abdominal pain. OB/gyn didn't have a clue what was going on. Blood work, CT scan, x-rays nothing showed that anything was wrong. No fever. Stayed in castle overnight. Next day more tests, still nothing. By the afternoon OB/gyn wanted to go in to ab laprascopically to see what could be causing the pain. When I came out of surgery I was told I had a staff infection in the abdomin that caused peritonitis (infection of the ab muscles). Was told it was very serious and similar to a ruptured apendix. Spent a week in the hospital on IVs and no food. Lost 15 pounds, still not back to normal. Wondering if my aches and pains are related to TVH and no ovaries or from the second surgery? Had allergic reaction to estrogen the week in between surgeries, so I haven't been on any hormones. Doing OK with minimal hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings. Hard to maintain weight. Tried to exercise regularly, but get very achey all over.

Can anyone relate?

I can't relate to that staph infection, nor the hormone allergy. I just think you have been through hell, eh? Here's to a better recovery from here on out.

Sorry you had to go through that. Staph infections are not uncommon after any surgery. My daughter had one from a hang nail and a co-worker had one from a paper cut in the office. The co-worker was out of work for many weeks but is doing fine now.

Keep in touch with your doctor and persist till you feel better. Sounds like you have a caring doctor.

Best wishes.
