Is this normal?

I had my hysterectomy lst monday and have been attempting to take it easy, but I have noticed over the weekend when i wake up or stand a bit of watery liquid mixed with blood gushes out. Its not a large amount, but is this normal? I still have a headache, which I have had since i woke up in the recovery room? Did I mention I am going insane from boredom lol!! Is it normal to feel burnig sensation in vaginal area?

Is this normal?

Hi Jery1

Glad you are over the op. I can't offer much advice apart from read this site, the women on here seem to know as much if not more as the Drs. I would think it is normal if you consider the major trauma you have just been through.

Good luck and do take it easy.

Is this normal?

Hi jery1

Your "gushing" sounds very similar to what I experienced. I had a seroma - a pocket of fluid - and it escaped through my vaginal cuff. It does happen fairly frequently according to my surgeon and mine subsided after about 5 days. My surgeon did do a test of the fluid, though, to make sure it wasn't urine.

I don't know about the headache, but I've read others relating that to the anaesthetic.

The vaginal burning does not sound normal - I had a bit of vaginal discomfort after my procedure which cleared within a few days.

I think you should make a list and call your doctor for advice and answers.

Best wishes and keep us informed.

....Wendy

Is this normal?

I'm having the exact same symptoms except the headache -- have ever since my surgery (3.5 weeks ago). The burning in my vagina isn't terrible, but it's there, just on the outer edge, not way up inside. I'm going to my gyn tomorrow, and I have it on my list of questions to ask. If I find out anything I'll let you know, but you might want to ask your own dr too.

Is this normal?

OK, went to the gyn today. He didn't explain the watery brownish yellow discharge, but he did say it was normal. He also said the slight burning sensation around the vaginal opening is a normal part of healing, and that if it really bothers me it's okay to put some Vagisil (or similar product) on there. Hope that helps!

Is this normal?

I didn't have the other symptoms, but I did experience headaches in the early days. I suffer with headaches quite easily so I wasn't surprised. They did go!

Is this normal?

I have the same thing although mine is a bit worse. I have a 3/4 inch opening in my incision. Took tests to make sure it was OK. They aren't back yet. The Dr cleaned it up with peroxide (I am supposed to 3 times a day) and bandaged me up again. I have to go back Friday so they can keep an eye on it. I don't leak, I gush! lol It doesn't hurt.

I have no burning when I pee.

I had a terrible headache 2 days out and called the on-call dr. I had already taken 4 motrin and he told me to take a percocet and lay down, if it was still there in an hour, take another one. It was gone after taking 1/2 of perc and laying down for 2 hours.

That headache can surely prevent you from feeling better, like you should, I sure hope you get it taken care of!

Is this normal?

I had a headache for a couple of days but it went with the first really good BM! Have you managed that yet? I think the stress, the hormonal shifts, dehydration and the anasthetic all contributed to it.

Best of luck with the rest of it which I was lucky enough to avoid (so far)
