Naval Pain

Hello Zippee,

My husband is so upset that he called the doctor this past week and talked with the nurse. I have an appointment this Wednesday. Hopefully this issue can be resolved. My husband said that if the doctor does not do anything, we are going to find someone who will. My husband said this is no way to live. Anyone I have talked with does not understand why in this day and age why anyone has to live with any pain. Even my Primary doctor can't believe it. She will help if my gy/oco doesn't.

Navel Pain - 8 weeks post-op

Hello SoSore,

So how did it go with the doctor? I went to the pelvic pain specialist, prescribe another medicine since the first one didn't work out. Didn't realize until I went to pick up the prescription it was for a 90 day supply which thank god was rejected by the ins. company. I'm not planning to have this pain as a long term thing. I'm going to the new gyn/onc for my 4 month checkup and we will talk about the mri. I hate that, its what got me into trouble in the first place! Knowing my luck, when I want it to find something, it won't find anything.

Naval Pain

Hi Zippee,

My surgeon is sending me to a pain clinic. I know that isn't the answer so I put in a call to my primary doctor, who is on vacation until Tuesday, which is the day I have an appointment with the pain clinic. I want her opinion to see if maybe I need some tests before I go the route of a pain clinic. My naval is worse. Sometimes, (I know this sounds silly but, I can actually feel the pain in my throat). It hurts so much I think I am going to be sick to my stomach. I asked that my primary doctor calls me first thing in the morning so that if she wants me to have tests, I can cancel the pain clinic appointment.

Hi SoSore,

Sorry to hear you are still in so much pain. Taking care of the pain is a good thing. At least with the pain taken care of, you can devote more energy/thought into figuring out what is causing the pain. I know when I was in pain I couldn't think. A person at work said "I had lost my sparkle". I thought it was really funny. The pain is still there but it is a lot more tolerable and I can concentrate better. You can go to the pain clinic but ask your primary care what she thinks of the treatment and does she have any recommendations.

Good Luck!

Naval Pain

Hi Zippee,

You and my husband are on the same page. He said exactly what you did. Take care of the pain and then try to find out what is causing it. I guess you are both right. I have to get some relief from this pain. Every morning I get up, I think maybe the pain will be less severe, but when I'm up for about 15 minutes, I realize it is still here. Oh, well, maybe by this time next year I will be pain free and so will you, hopefully sooner.

Navel Pain - 8 weeks post-op

I understand your pain. After 7 months I still have burning down my inner left leg along with burning and stabbing constant pain from hip bone to hip bone, across my belly button all thru my abdomin and burning around my binkini line. I went to a neurologist. He prescribed Neurontin. It helps me tolerate the pain. I also changed gyno. He didn't know why I was hurting. The neurologist thought during the surgery my nerves were held back with retractors to long pinching & damaging the nerves. He said it may take 2 years to heal, if it heals at all.

Naval Pain

Dear bubu,

I am seven months post op and am still having pain. Also, I just had a cysto which involved putting a camera thru my urethra and distending my bladder. I had biops and cultures. I wound up with nerve damage in my urethra, vagina, and clitoris. I am on Lyrica and it helps all my pain. I am actually able to wear clothing that touches all these areas with no pain.

Thank heaven I had two wonderful doctors, my urologist and my family medical doctor. My gyn/oncologist told me he could not help me.

I was told this pain could go on for another year. It takes forever for nerves to heal.

My family doctor told me to call anytime with any discomfort and she would see me immediately.

I feel having a woman as a family doctor helps a lot because they know what a woman has to go through.

I pray that you and every woman out there heals soon and we can put all this behind us.
