I think that depends on how you feel. I am sure you can sit when you want to. is it far away?
I had mine on the 2nd and I would go if it were me.. just my opinion.

Am I asking for trouble
I'm feeling ok, and I do plan on sitting most of the evening. It's about a 20 minute ride.

Am I asking for trouble
I think if you can take your meds, get plenty of rest beforehand and be able to sit as much as you need it (and maybe even prop your feet up from time to time) you should be okay. (Just an opinion).
I had mine two days before you and I'm planning on something similar, unfortunately a bit more standing and walking though. Unfortunately, we bought tickets for the event before I knew about the surgery and they are non-refundable and we can't find anyone else to go in our stead. So, I'm working on the walking when possible and making all kinds of arrangements to make this possible. If we have to leave early we'll leave early, but I hate to waste the money (almost $100).
Let us know how it goes!
Hugs,
buzylady

Thank you all for responding. I am still off work and am planning on taking it easy. His mother lives 5 minutes from the event and she told me if I get tired just come to her house and lay down. Now my problem is what to wear.

Am I asking for trouble
Only you can make that decision. Personally, I would not go. Sorry to be a bummer but I guess it depends on what kind of surgery you had.
I had abdominal with some extra complications so at two weeks I wasn't even able to dress myself or get shoes on or sit up for more than half an hour at a time. So it all depends. If adominal...just remember that you have a lot of internal stiches and bruising so if you go, plan some way that you can lie down and rest a little if you need to. And chances are you will feel really awful for a day or two afterwards. If you want to go, and I can understand that totally, just be sure to plan no activity for a couple days after to allow your body some extra healing time.
I hope you're able to go. It's hard to miss out on things during recovery. Very hard. But recovery time is recovery time and you only get one shot at this. If you over do it and tear something inside you risk setting yourself back along time afterwards. That's what stopped me from attending the things I wanted to go too. 6 weeks off is way long enough for me and I didn't want to risk hurting myself inside and end up having to be off longer than the planned 6 weeks.
Again, sorry to appear negative here. I'm not a pessimist. I'm just a realist who asked a lot of questions about what they do inside. And after hearing what was done...nope, not going to push myself. Just my decision. I totally respect yours. I really do.
I don't know a thing about vaginal or laser surgeries so maybe if that's what you had done, muscle and tissue weren't cut like was for me? I've just seen a lot of women here post things like...I was feeling good so I did this or that and then come back to post that they're paying for it dearly. Be careful. Please be careful. Respect yourself at this time. You might feel fine but your insides might still be recovering.
I wish you all the best and if you go, I hope you have a most wonderful time.

Thank you for your comment and you are not being a bummer. I had a LAVH, I do respect my body and will be listening to it carefully. I have told my boyfriend that if for any reason I start to feel bad or tired even if its 1/2 hour after we get there we will be leaving and he understands. Also if I don't feel good the day off the event I have told him I will not be going. Thank you for your concern and I hope your recovery is going well for you.

Thank you I was so worried you might hate what I said but I just want you to be careful. There's so many stories here that we superwomen do things because we feel fine and then pay for it later.
I hope you have a wonderful time and I'm glad you plan to respect your body.
Have fun. I'm envious. I've only been out once in 3 weeks now and am climbing the walls. I hope you have a really good time.
Take care

Am I asking for trouble
I think it really depends on how you feel, I had a TVH with a RSO on Sept 24 and although I'm sure not recommended I was in Vegas exactly one week later and up until 2 am! I didn't feel "fantastic" but I'm sure nobody we were with would have ever thought I had been through that surgery only 1 week prior. I am now exactly 3 weeks out from my surgery and I've been back at work since the 6th, still tired at night but overall there have not been any problems. Again, everyone is different, heals different and feels different....you have to do whats right for you!
Take care!
