Abdominal numbness & tingling nerves?

I'm 2 1/2 weeks post-op TAH and feeling great! Is anyone experiencing numbness & tingling nerve sensations in lower abdomen area? Also, should the belly band be worn all day? Thanks, Gorjuss :-)

Good to hear you feel great but YESSS!!! All of the tingling and burning is annoying. I told my doctor and she said that the nerves are coming back to life.so actually its good news sister, we're healing and cruising down the road to wellness!!

What you're experiencing is normal. Your body's healing.
You don't have to wear your binder all day. It's a personal choice. I loved mine. It was the best thing ever for me. Mainly wore it when I was walking. I took it off when I planned on sitting a while because it was a little uncomfortable for me. It's up to you how long you want to wear it during the day.

Would applying Neosporin ease the tenderness of the severed nerves? Thanks & be blessed, Gorjuss :-)

Re: Abdominal numbness & tingling nerves?

My abdomen is numb down to the top of the pubic bone. I am totally numb across the incision. Some days the numbness stops below my belly button but other days it up too it, is anyone else having these problems. I find the numbness is a lil worse when i have the swelly belly going on. I dont know about putting neosporin on it, but i have been washing mine with dial soap. I am a nurse for a small family clinic and i asked the dr that i work for if it would be ok to also spray betadine (3-4 drops mixed with water) upon the incision to keep down yeast infection and he said it would be ok but to be sure and rinse it well.

Re: Abdominal numbness & tingling nerves?

I have permanent nerve damage from my surgeries, im numb from the belly button down to the pubic bone Sometimes I feel little tingles but thats about all. I can hold an ice pack on my stomach and not feel the cold at all lol. As for the belly band I wore mine if I was up walking and when laying down but took it off when sitting because it would hurt my ribs.

Re: Abdominal numbness & tingling nerves?

numbness and tingling is very normal and can take some time to go away. Thankfully, for me I have full feeling in my abdomen and around my scar now.

Re: Abdominal numbness & tingling nerves?

This does get better ladies , i'm 4 months post op and only have a little numbness when i have overdone it , and swelling on the left side of my stomach. It takes some time for the nerves to heal. But believe me , it is all so much easier when you are over the 12 week mark xxx
