more nervous than I would like....

I must be more worried than I thought.
My pre op today went great but I seem to be shaking from nerves. More than I would like.

What can I do to make it until Monday?
I am not a drinker at all ever, BUT I am shaking so bad I wish I was an occasional drinker LOL :O

I dont like being nervous because this surgery will actually be a blessing to me. I honestly feel half dead with anemia and bledding everywhere all day for over a month at times.

Last week I busted out crying as my family saw me drench 2 tampons and a pad every 5 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!
I honestly cant take this another day!

I am ready spiritually and physically now.. I reached my point.
But what can I do to alleviate my nerves?

I am not a drinker either... I drink chamomile tea or tension tamer tea from celestial seasonings. They are caffine free, and really help to calm my jambled nerves! Also bubble baths are great, and you may as well get as many in now as you can, because its gonna be a long time after monday! Good luck and my thoughts and prayers are with you.. Daisyrae

I agree with (((DaisyRae)))
I have the occasional drink, BUT, my pre-op nurse said no alcohol this weekend. I think a hot bath is the best suggestion I have.

Do you like to read? needlework, sewing, etc? Sometimes if I sit and cross-stitch, it takes my mind off things that are making me nervous. Have you bought all the stuff you need for your castle bag? What about for after? Can you make some lists of what you need? I find making lists very calming. Maybe even write your fears down, and then you can get them out of your mind.

One technique I find VERY relaxing, is deep breathing techniques. But if all else fails, just stay here online, and read read read. Usually being on here helps me stay very calm.

for me, venting on this site helps a LOT.

other than that, i have to admit, i've been hitting the ice cream and taking baths. i'll really miss baths.

i've been drinking chamomile tea before bed. as i fall to sleep is my most nervous time this week. still not sleeping great.

it seems every time the doctor or hospital calls it makes me cry.

nerves. darn the things.

at least i take solace in the fact that my bloody accidents won't be running my life. i feel like it's been on hold almost a whole year.

peace and health.

How long till we can take baths again?
I get in my jetted tub once a day. I sure will miss that. I also have an above ground pool?

I did not ask Dr about this part?

from what i understand, different doctors think differently about the bathing issue.

mine said she'd let me know after my post appt. it mostly an infection thing, i think. i DO know that a very hot bath would sometimes make my bleeding worse. my mom, nurse, said maybe it increased blood flow to aunt flo. i dunno. could have been coincidental. doctor had never heard of a connection before. for so long i tried to figure out a how or why to when it would be worse. who knows.

i'd ask your doctor their advice on baths.

peace and health.

Meds

Ask your Dr for some meds to help you before surgery. I got mine filled and they didn't take any. My daughter is going in for surgery and is taking them now and wow they are really calming her down. Good lucka nd don't worry it isn't as bad as it seems.

Hi Ladies in Waiting ,

You all have wonderful ideas to help get some calm and some sleep.

Healing Meditation helps tremendously and Deep Prayer as well - for those who do.

Please know that all of your Sisters are doing the same - for you. s!

Much Love,

pre-op jitters

I am staying very busy-yard work, walking, bike riding, golfing. I am also cleaning the house and getting my recovery area ready.

I am so tired at night I am calm.

I also made a list of all the things that I was afraid of, and then did something about the ones I could. And let the rest go. that helped a lot. It is a thread called "list your fears". I thought it helped to get the nasty thoughts out in the open. I also called the anesthesiologist and talked to a Dr. there about some of my fears. That was the best thing I did. He was wonderful and answered my nagging questions. Now I feel pretty good.

My decision is made, and I will have to take the rest as it comes.
And if all else fails, we can be jittery together!

Hello,

I was really nervous! Where I found peace is simply reading the bible and mediating on his word. Go to this web site . I read it just before going to the hospital.

www.hopeinhim.net/theoperation.html I will pray that you will have so much peace like I did. When the Chaplain came in to see me just before my surgery. She asked me how come I had so much peace. I told her that the Lord gave me so much peace. He will for you too!!

Good Luck To You!

Debbie
