You likely won't need much for the hospital. All I took was chapstick, my iPhone, earbuds, charging cable, fluffy socks and a teddy bear (I'm used to sleeping with my cat in my arms). My phone was great to text with my 16 year old and also to listen to music in the evenings when the ward was noisy. The hospital usually prefers you wear their gowns rather than your own, but a robe may be useful. I didn't want to get my stuff icky so I preferred to use their stuff and leave it there.

If I have more questions or concerns as the surgery approaches, do I come back to this thread (if it remains available to us) or do I ask on the pre-op forum and start a new thread?

The pre-op chat will close later this evening. If you have questions or concerns after it is closed, asked them in the pre-op forum.

My question is, how long after surgery did other's start an hrt? Again, thanks so much for your support. I am nervous and at the same time looking forward to just getting it over with.
My surgery was due to cervical adenocarcinoma, and the gyn/onc prescribed HRT prior to my being discharged from the hospital.

I wanted to be sure you know we have GYN Genetics and Cancer Concerns forums you're welcome to check out as well, if you'd like. There's lots of great information which you might find helpful.

Sending hugs and positive thoughts your way!

I always feel the best I can 3 days after my period starts up until the day I ovulate. Our hope (my dr and I) is that by removing everything and going on a low dose of estrogen hrt my body can be tricked into staying in the good time of the month. My fear is that everything will get worse. I'm 34 with four kids.
Sending you dear. You have a lot going on physically and your fears are normal. Praying with you that your surgery will be able to remain vaginal and that the HRT dose will be able to be regulated quickly and allow your body to have relief. You are in good hands and your doctor is there to help you work through this process.

Remember that we are here for you . . . You are not alone.

Hello my dear. I know that anytime the C word is used it strikes fear in our hearts. Doctors are usually very conservative in their diagnoses and done just hand out the "it is early and you will be ok" answer. Remember that you are in good hands and your medical team will be doing what they do best . . . taking care of you.

Remember that we are here for you and we will see you on the other side. Love to you dear

Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread Sep 20-Sep 26,2015

Our time today has come to an end - our Pre-Op Open House Chat Thread is now closed. Thank you to all our members who attended as we support one another - women helping women.

The staff of HysterSisters is sending you hugs for the best outcome for your hysterectomy.

As you wait for your scheduled surgery, if you have more questions, please start a new thread discussion here in Pre-op hysterectomy forum area.

Then, after your surgery, there will be a specially created thread for our members who have surgery this week. Look for it in the Post-op Hysterectomy Recovery forum - specifically the Hysterectomy Recover Reports forum with dates matching your surgery date. You will find your surgery sisters there.
