Urine leakage and constant urination. Can something be done?
Does anyone here have a problem with urine leaking since their hysterectomy? It's been almost 8 months post op for me and while I did leak a little bit of urine before the surgery, it's worse now. I'm just wondering if it did have to do with the surgery and if there is anything I can do about it, because I will be ending up having to wear pads or liners again and I don't even a period anymore. Not to mention that it's embarrassing having to urinate a dozen times a day, and a few times a night. I'm getting so tired of it. Are there any treatments? Anybody else going through this? Is this something that can be taken care of?

Since surgery, my frequency is much, much less, but I have noticed that when I feel I have to go, I better not dilly-dally. If I wait too long, there's no holding it back... I mean, we're talking *zero* ability to stop the flow.

That's how it is with me, only with me my bladder never feels empty, and I'm pretty sure it's not a bladder infection or a UTI. I have a dr. appt. in 2 weeks. I'm going to talk to my dr. about it. It's also embarrassing and I'm tired of it. Hopefully there are some treatments. One dr. told me years ago it was overactive bladder, but never really did any tests to see if that is what it really was. So basically he gave me a prescription for some very expensive medication that I couldn't afford, and then he sent me on my way. He didn't even tell me to make an appt. to come back to see if the meds were working. But I never took them anyway so I guess it doesn't matter. But I'd like to find an answer to this problem, because it's getting worse than before.

I agree - there's no sense in being miserable when surely there must be help available. My issue is bearable since I no longer have that full feeling constantly. I just have to be careful and go when I first feel the urge.
Let us know what the doc says. Hopefully, you'll get some satisfaction, and if not - get a second opinion!
God luck!!

Urine leakage and constant urination. Can something be done?
Remember the kegels. I am doing them. The exercise to strech "those" musles. Try going, and then stopping in the middle of your stream. I do them at red lights too. I have always gone alot, still do and when I gotta go, I gotta go. So I am trying kegels.

Urine leakage and constant urination. Can something be done?
I've had that problem along with a fistula. I was given an anti spasmatic called sanctura. I've been taking it for about 2 months since leaking seem to have stopped believing it was due to fistula and it seems to have healed on its own, dr told me to take meds for 2 more weeks then stop. that was 2 weeks ago so the other day I decided to stop a little early so I would still have some meds if it started up again. Well I was right when I stopped the meds I started leaking when ever my bladder was full have to go every hr -hr &1/2 to be safe. I cannt make it to bathroom when Im woke up after 2+ hrs at nite then 2 hrs later bladder is full again. I started taking sanctura again, gettin better but still leaking when bladder is full. I have another appt. with urologist on the 17 th so we shall see what he says.

You wouldn't believe how many drs. I have gone to in the past to find out what is causing this. I would just get referred to one dr. and when he couldn't figure it out I'd get referred to another dr. It's been years trying to find out what is wrong. I guess the drs. didn't see anything when they did the hysterectomy. Either that or the hyst caused things to become worse. I got to the bathroom at least 5 or more times within an hour. I can't sleep through the night. I went to 2 different urologists years ago and neither did an exam. They just told me it was overactive bladder and gave me a script for a medication that was too expensive to fill. They never did tell me to come back. I've been fighting this problem ever since I was a kid, and as I get older it gets worse. To the point where it is interferring with my life. So when I go to see my dr. next week I'm going to have to talk to him about it, see what can be done. I don't know what is more frustrating. The leaking or having to go to the bathroom all the time. I think it might be Intersistal Cystitis, but that is one problem that is difficult to diagnose.

Urine leakage and constant urination. Can something be done?
I posted something very similiar to this problem a few weeks ago. I am approaching 12 weeks post-op and I have the constant slow drip. I also have pressure feeling constantly.
I was referred by my gyn to see a urologist. That appt was almost two weeks ago. The urologist confirmed that my bladder is not emptying completely and prescribed Detrol LA. I was told to take the Detrol LA for two weeks and then report status when I return to urologist appt on 12/18. I took the medication for four days and it made me upset to my stomach and gave me migraines. I stopped taking the medication.
I am ready to discuss a bladder sling with the urologist when I return on 12/18.
I hope each of us with leakage problems finds the solution that is right for each of us to fix this problem. It is embarrassing, irritating and has slowed my emotional recovery and mental recovery after hysterectomy.

I Can Relate.......
I certainly can relate to these bladder issues. I am 26 mths post-op and am still wearing a liner daily. After discovering a granuloma and having it cauterized, am still leaking clear liquid/ urine and old blood/ pink blood. Urologist admitted me and cannot find the problem so have been waiting 6 months for an exploratory.
I don't think that there can be anything seriously wrong, otherwise I would be pushing to have this exploratory done as soon as possible, however, I do think the wait seems excessive. I really am more troubled by the recent increase in frequency of what looks like the tail end of a menstrual cycle or the days where the spotting looks like the early onset of a menstrual cycle.
I am so sorry that I had this hysterectomy. Now I never feel fresh and am chained to a panty liner. I have had 2 back surgeries and 5 breast surgeries (a few of the breast surgeries have been done after the TAH), but I ended up with celiac disease which they say can be triggered from the stress of surgery. There was no way of knowing that I had this disease laying dormant, but had I have been aware of this trigger factor, my decision to have this surgery would have been far different.
Having the hysterectomy and removing the ovaries may well save me from further breast surgeries and the excessive monthly bleeding is gone, but with this leaking, I sure do not feel very feminine.

Urine leakage and constant urination. Can something be done?
I'm struggling with the same issue. I even had a bladder sling done with my hyst. I can't walk more than a few yards without leaking. Dr said it was due to bladders spasms (I can feel them) and gave me Ditropan. I was told that it could take up to a month for the meds to really work. Meanwhile, I go through a thick poise pad in less than an hour if I am out shopping. Now all I want to do is stay home to avoid the leakage. Very frustrating.
