swollen belly after surgery (7 days post hysterectomy)

I just read the old blog about swollen belly taking 7 weeks to a year to subside. My doctor said it would take a few weeks! Does anyone have any diet and exercise suggestions? Also, can you tell me how long I will continue to feel like a board and not a person? Thank you very much!

You are still very early post op. Go easy on yourself, and make sure to walk a little each day, gradually increasing it. Most importantly rest and try not to overdo things.

I'm 5 weeks post op and I find it is a little bit flatter in the mornings now, but it does swell back up by the afternoon!

I think you'll find the best way to help keep it from being really swollen is to not overdo it. For the first few weeks it's swollen all the time, but eventually it should start to calm down at least a bit in the mornings. But whenever you push yourself too hard, expect it to swell back up a lot. Exercise won't help, but will make it worse because the swelling is inflammation, not fat.
