Just like most of you, I worried from the time I made the decision to go ahead with surgery and the surgery date. Let me tell you--waiting was my worst part. I will be 3 weeks post op tomorrow. I called my Dr today to move my post op appointment back because I think I'm ready to go back to work. I feel great. Minimal pain. No mood swings.

The only thing that I wish I had known before surgery was how bad I would seem right after surgery. I scared the wits out of my DH. I've had my tubes tied and a hernia repair previously. After those surgeries, I was immediately coherent and fine.

Well--I don't remember much about the evening after my surgery, but I was not my normal chipper self. I fell asleep mid-sentence many times. I used the morphine pump. When my DH asked me if there was anything he could do, I told him to find someone to shoot me. Again, I do not remember any of this. I don't want to scare anyone. The next day I was up taking my shower and feeling like myself. I just thought you might want to do a better job preparing your DH for surgery day than I did.

I'm doing great. The worst part, by far, is the wait before surgery!

Please remember this is MAJOR SURGERY with body parts removed! I still hear about all the "funny" stuff I said after surgery! I dont remember much of anything. I feel great now (for the most part anyway). The waiting is the WORST. Good luck to all!

Sounds like you are doing really well rwg4. I agree 100% that the waiting was the worse part!!! Like the previous post, please remember you had Major SX and do take care as to not over-do anything. You will still be healing for some time to come.

Congrats..

My good friend had her surgery a few years back and she said the same thing about the first day. Said that was the absolute worst part...waking up and thinking OMG Im going to die! LOL She told her hubby she was dying and get some help. LOL So...I guess I know to warn dh and to be prepared for myself!
