What is da vinci surgery?

pardon my ignorance but what is da vinci surgery? I am in New Zealand maybe we call it something else?!

DaVinci is a robot. It is used to perform a variety of surgeries to include abdominal hysterectomy. It is less invasive, results in less damage to the body and a quicker recovery time than the tradition abdominal surgeries. My doctor used DaVinci for my hysterectomy and I was back to work full-time in 2 weeks. There is a link to davinci's website in the right column on the front page of this website.

daVinci is the name of a surgical operating system. It is controlled by a surgeon seated at a console. The surgeon has a 3-D view of the surgery area and it is viewed at 10x magnification. For many the initial recovery time is 2 weeks but as in all instances "your mileage may vary" and it depends on what all is done during your surgery.

I had a cancer diagnosis so had lymph nodes removed and my oncologist indicated to me that the 2 week recovery was more for benign conditions. I was off work for 6 weeks and it was almost 8.

Since it is a laproscopic procedure there are fewer incisions so it is less stressful on the body, plus the instruments can cauterize any bleeding so in many instances it is a "bloodless" procedure.

I had the RALPH and I highly recommend it! I've had friends have the LAP and I was feeling good in no time. I had to find a dr who would do it. My dr is young and up on the latest and greatest.
