TAH bleeding post total ab hysterectomy

Hi,

Had total abdominal hysterectomy on 17 January. Expected bleeding, but only had minimal discharge, and not really bright red at all., but still been wearing pads just in case. Today, 2 weeks and 2 days post op, I noticed some red tiny clots after wiping. It was not bright red, but a dark red colour. Is this normal? Should I worry?

I had my surgery on 1/18 and started bleeding today as well. Mine is very noticable and have blood on my pad. I have a post op appt tomorrow so ill no more then.

I was told to expect fresh blood only a little 10 days post op where the stitches in the vaginal cuff repair. Mine are perminant but stretch a bit as it heals so probably normal I am 4 weeks tomorrow post TAH ovaries left

I am 15 days post op and having fresh blood. I've changed my pad only twice so far and that's only because I don't want to chance infection trying to keep clean. I hope I didn't pop a stitch or something else. My appt is tomorrow morning.

Thanks for your replies. TOday, the bleeding seems to have gone back to what it was...minimal and not bright. I suppose it is a wait and see at the moment.

My Dr. told me at the beginning of this (my TAH was on 1/24) that it would take 6-8 weeks to recover. So HOPEFULLY once we're past the 6-8 week mark, we can TOSS THE PADS! I would REALLY BE DEPRESSED if I had to carry them around for much longer than that!

I certainly will not miss having periods....that is one positive thing about having the hysterectomy!

Did you do too much? Quite often if you are too busy you can bleed some. Keep and eye on it and tell your doctor during your visit since it's tomorrow. If it gets worse and your resting, call your DR

Just left my appt and she said my stitches were starting to disolve and to expect discharge and bleeding for 6 to 8 weeks from surgery date. I feel better now.
