more tired on day 5 post-op

I had TLH on Tuesday and today, Sunday feel much more tired and listless. No RX pain med since Thursday - pain better with advil and tylenol, but I really just want to lie down and nothing else...I have made myself walk around, and have no appetite at all....normal? Thanks!

Re: more tired on day 5 post-op

Hello SML57!

What you are feeling is all normal! Good for you for getting up and walking, I had a hard time forcing myself to do that the first couple of days! I too had no appetite, it'll return soon enough.

You might want to check out your Recovery Progress Report thread. This is a place that you can meet up with other sisters who had their surgery during the week you did. I found it really helpful to be able to relate with the ladies and support each other through the process of recovery.

Re: more tired on day 5 post-op

If you just want to lie down, then that is what your body needs most at this time. The first several days post-surgery, I didn't have much appetite, and ate small portions. That's not surprising after all the bowel prep and fasting that was done pre-surgery, resulting in a shrunken stomach.

Try to eat regular, if small meals, and snacks in between to keep your energy up. Then sleep late, take long naps, and don't push yourself. Right now almost all of your energy is going to the healing process.

Re: more tired on day 5 post-op

I had no appetite for the first week post op, but i made myself eat very tiny bits of yogurt mixed with papaya. i couldnt eat also because i was so full of gas right up to my chest and had hard time releasing that so yep i walked lots and lots throughout the day very slowly few min at a time at intervals...so yep i believe its totally normal to have no appetite and be extremely tired and so yes get lots and lots of rest...Peace be with you
