To remove or not to remove that is the ???

After one cancellation and now a new date (2/27) I am still not sure if what I am doing is right. Like I have told my friends if I was in pain every day there would be no question. I have mild dysplasia, a small fibroid, dysfunctional bleeding, and a feeling of pressure and fullness vaginally and lower abdomen. Lately when I run or do aerobics, I feel this odd pressure vaginally. It sounds from what I read to be prolapse. (multiple pregnancy) I had a summer of problems. Three months of off and on vaginitis that ended with a bacterial infection. I am terrified I will make the decision to go with that date and come out the other end worse off. I know y'all aren't doctors but any and all advice would so be appreciated. The surgery will be a LAVH. I sat down with my GP and she thinks it is the right way to go but all my friends say hang on to your uterus! Do my symptoms warrant this?

Do you want more children? That is the major reason to keep the uterus.

Keeping ovaries has different reasons (more health related and long term benefits). I was treated for dysplasia (in late '89 and early '90) - and at that time I wouldn't even consider a hyst - no other problems 'then'. My fibroid got to the point of affecting other systems (bladder & bowels), made me anemic from the blood loss, and was BIG.

My suggestion is a 2nd opinion and also to have both sit down and explain what is exactly 'wrong' and a solution for each - you may want to do it in stages dealing with each individually rather than as a group with the hyst.

ibeshoppin - i'm not sure what your history is...so i'd wonder what you've had done to treat each of your symptoms. before going right to a hysterectomy, i would think that you and your doctor would want to try other less invasive treatments, tackling each of the issues separately perhaps.
