Emotional Flat Tire

4 weeks post LSH - feeling like I have an emotional "flat tire", numb, easily p'd off, tired. Went back to work this week (stressful job) Just don't feel like myself. Already posted this message, but then couldn't find it ! Sorry if you are reading it for second time....occasional short term memory "misplacement" too apparently.

Emotional Flat Tire

Hi there.

I have my "moments" too. Usually I resort to tears. I've never been really emotional this way, even went I went through menopause, so this is odd for me.

But today was a fine day. No emotional outbursts at all. In fact, I feel pretty calm.

Who knows what tomorrow will bring. Time will tell.

Hang in there. Things are bound to be better for all of us.

Emotional Flat Tire

Hello. I remember dealing with a lot of anger, still, after my surgery, but I was, oddly, mostly at peace about it, mad at myself for allowing myself to feel anger. BritinSouth, you do have a stressful job, an RN manager -- at a hospice, is it? I'm finding myself wondering whether for your procedure you might have been okayed for a 6-week recovery period, as I was. If so, you have gone back to work two weeks early. That sounds like a real stress to your body. And being PO'd would of course be the response if you are feeling overtaxed by things at work and at home, let alone dealing with recovery. I just wanted to drop by and give you a and say I hope that you will try to take it easy on yourself. Your job means you are always having to think about others, their needs, responses, responsibilities. Yet your owe yourself so much in terms of your recovery. You have one chance to recover, and it's now. I hope things improve for you, dear. You are giving your life over to helping others, it seems to me. Time you got some back, big time!

Emotional Flat Tire

I went in two days before you. I took aan Ambien last night, it did nothing. I feel like I also have an emotioanl flat tire on my ride to recovery. I have the same observations I have of you also. I also seem to preffer to be alone the last few days. My husband said my shortness was about twodays and going. I am a bit stressed out over a pain that has been here for 3 days and I don't want to call the dr. about pain over my belly button and a slight redness at my belly button incision that has been here since day one. I don't want to call because I have a job interview for a Cardiology Reception/EKG Administer on Tues and want to convience myslef and my doctor that I am able to work. I need the income. My husband got fired for taking an extra week to assist me in recovery. So we have negative money and owe a bunch. I need to correct the issue so I can live again. Recovery and limited funds SUCKS! So I don't want to have brain fog or a deflated emotional tire on Tues.... Well I send a hug your way and let me know if you find any more info or tips on dealing with this. I had an issue with this also a few weeks ago like you. It seemed to clear but not I agree "something" is just off. I feel unmotivated but not depressed or sad..?

Emotional Flat Tire

Hi BritInSouth,

I also had a LSH.

In your profile, it said you kept your ovaries. Possibly they are doing a little roller-coaster ride in post-op?? Sometimes ladies can get ~sleeping ovaries~ in post-op due to the trauma of surgery. It can last for several weeks sometimes. Symptoms can include tiredness and mood swings.

If your emotional flat tire continues...you might check with your Dr. Possilby he/she could do a hormone test, just to double check everything.

Also, a LSH is a less invasive hyst and it is still *major* surgery. It takes the body a little while to get back to 100%. I found with my LSH that I looked great on the outside and I was still healing on the inside. People just wanted me to spring back to all my normal activities a little faster then I was ready. I went back to work at 2 weeks with my Dr's okay...and I can relate...that it is hard to feel onboard at work so soon after surgery. Just give yourself time.

Sending best wishes~

Mary
