*if your doc takes everything....*

I haven't been here in a VERY long time-couple weeks, maybe a month. BUT, I am back in Pre-Op today to possibly help another young lady through what I am experiencing:

i had an LAVH on 11/29/2010
My doctor had NO choice but to take EVERYTHING I had: there were ovaries trying to grow onto bowels, fibroids every-*******'-where, and multiple ovarian cysts, one of which she had to drain before she could remove.

Her nurse parked a GENERIC CLIMARA patch on my belly and it stuck for seven days; i tried the same thing, and after awhile, decided tape was a good way to hold this sucker on each week. (Someone gave me surgical tape!).

HERE'S WHAT YOU SHOULD REALLY LOOK FOR AND BE AWARE OF POST-OP.
  • MILD TO SEVERE MOOD SWINGS
  • *FEELINGS OF FRUSTRATION
  • *CRYING SPELLS

I take thyroid medication, and am in the process of finding out whether my TSH levels have changed after surgery. I'm also going to ask my Doctor for another anti-depressant if the TSH levels are "normal"; I've been in situations this past month I wouldn't wish on anybody--mood swings from Hell; and then some. Make absolutely SURE you tell your family this WILL HAPPEN. I'm 2 months post op on Monday.
Part of this has to do with the status quo around the house here, and part of it's the patch, and I KNOW this, but can't quit wearingthis darn thing....am stuck with it.

Just wanted to try and keep someone else from going through this. The Anti-Depressant's there for the Thyroid issues and such; I'm thinking there's an interaction between my screwed up thyroid gland and the "nothing" below my belly button...the thyroid and this patch are fighting for temp control and suchlike.

*shrug*
Gonna take time to level off...but.....

Hmmm never thought there could be a problem between this surgery and my thyroid. I was hyperthyroid big time and treated 20 yrs ago and now take synthroid for it. What should I watch gir do you think? I will be asking Doc on Wed when I go in for first follow up.

Re: *if your doc takes everything....*

I just got my doctors office to tell me that thyroid levels are normal again...but that a nurse would call me back with better details.

I think there's no interaction between thyroid meds and the patch; but possibly an interaction between the patch and my anti-depressant....still wondering. Will know more this afternoon when Sharon (nurse) calls me back.

Re: *if your doc takes everything....*

Well besides my Thyroid medication I also take a anti-seizure medication along with others I'm not too worried about (they can always be changed/adjusted) but I really don't want to mess those 2 up. Not being able to drive for almost 3 weeks now is driving me nuts. Not sure how I would do if I had a seizure and couldn't drive for at least 6 mo!!!

My plan is to not take anything if I can. We will see what Doc says Wed.
