Hot flashes

I had a total hysterectomy in May 2008 and I am not taking anything except a multivitamin for menopause and some supplement from CVS and everything was fine until I would say the last 2 weeks. These hot flashes (I should say hot sweating) in the middle of the night are driving me nuts!!!!!!!

Also, a few days ago I had some spotting and was a little freaked out!!! I have no girly parts so where did that come from?

Have you tried black cohosh? That works for me! Some other gals drink soy milk, and there is also a hotflash cocktail. Do a search in the upper right corne for hotflash cocktail, you'll find it.

yes, it is in one of the over counter things I take, but apparently it is not working!!!!

Maybe you could try a soy supplement or other phytoestrogen beyond what your multi contains. I would definitely contact your doctor about the spotting. Take care!

I feel u on the hot flashes. Im at the 3 wk mark and ive had to change my sheets twice a week now. I was hospitalized cuz my hot flashes make me vomit they get so bad. They ended up putting me on hormones for them. I know u can take effexor for hot flashes too. Its an anti depressant but they find it helps. For me I find that if Im starting to sweat get a cold pack and place it in my lower back. Or my neck. I bought one of those belly sweating bands. They now have pockets so u can use them for hot or cold pain relief. Its nice. I get belly support and cool down. But walmart has a generic mineral and vitamin supplement u can buy otc for under 6.00. Its made for the time of menopause. I was trying those but ended up needing the estrogen anyways. But I still take both. Its got lots of vitamins in it.
