eeks! oozing incision?

not sure if its the incision or just some split skin near the end of it, can't see it well enough. About the size of a fingernail, started oozing then bleeding on day 5 after surgery, put antibiotic & a bandaid on it -- freaking me out, of course it's Saturday, dr. answering service said go in Monday & get it checked. I'm bummed. Should I do anything else for it?

eeks! oozing incision?

I was told that it is normal for the incision to ooz and bleed a little bit. My DR said it can even happen weeks later, as a stitch that decides to desolve that way and push thru. So probably normal. Unless you start to have a fever or other signs of infection. Check with DR as soon as he is in just to make sure.

Yup - this is normal = something is working its way out - if you get a fever or major pain - just phone the doc on Monday and see what they say - I had 10 cm open up on my incision because of blood needing to get out - or a slight infection - it is healing really nicely now... down to about 3 cm open only...

Could be a stitch - could be a bit of trapped blood - could be a bit of an infection - mine didn't open until day 8....

Hugs!
