surgery in two days....nervous

Hi Ladies.

I went to my preoop testing and registration at the hospital today. I didn't realize how nervous I was until I got there. I got lots of questions answered on on the way back to the parking garage I realized I was so nervous I didn't remember what floor I parked on. After 20 mintues I finally got the right floor. I just feel like my adreneline (sp) is rapid in my body. Luckily I have lots to do in the next to days to keep me busy. I didn't think I would get this nervous but I am.

Re: surgery in two days....nervous

Hi -- It's normal to be nervous.

Just try to remember to be kind to yourself during this time. It's good to keep busy with what you need to get done before your surgery, but it's also good to reassure yourself that you will be feeling better once you're through the surgery. Reading over some of the post-op experiences can be helpful to you as well.

Best wishes to you!

Re: surgery in two days....nervous

I told my doctor how anxious I was, thinking it might be linked to something medical. She was very kind and gave me xanax to get me through the next week. I can only take it at night (because it makes me a zombie during the day) but it really has helped a lot. Don't be afraid to tell your doctor how you are feeling. A stressed patient is not an optimal patient.

Actually my doctor did give me some Ambien. It has helped tons with my sleeping. I already take Lexapro. I have taken Xanax in the past and it works great but it really makes me so sleepy and I have to work the next two days. hmmmm.....maybe I should have asked for both....lol

Re: surgery in two days....nervous

My pre-op appt is tomorrow, I haven't slept in 3 days worrying about it. I can just imagine how I will be here in a few weeks.
Hang in there girl - I am glad you have lots to keep you busy. I have resorted to cleaning like a crazy person LOL

As my family jockingly says "ah, better living through chemistry."

To think, before my health crisis, I rarely took a tylenol. I have an impressive drug sorter at the moment just to remember everything I'm supposed to take.

Keep a smile!
