Bowel Issues
I am scheduled to have a Robotic Laparoscopic Assisted Total Hysterectomy on the 21st of February( 7 days from now ). I was diagnosed with severe anemia related to very heavy menstrual flow and the prescribed iron supplements. This caused constipation and a bout of diverticlosis. Now that has resolved but bowel movements continue to be less than optimum. Back on regular diet slowly reintroducing fiber to diet. Eating Activia adding Metamucil also. Can anyone relate? Maybe its my large fibroids pressing on my bowels? Help if you can. VictoriaC

Re: Bowel Issues
Very likely the fibroids. Mine is pressing on my bladder and causing repeat UTIs. Some of these things are like large rocks and weigh pounds.I have 23 week uterus. After carrying these larger ones for years, vs the months of true pregnancy, is a major strain on the body.
Talk to your doc. I hope it resolves itself for you.

Re: Bowel Issues
Victoria,
I'm having a Lavh-bso on the 23rd of Feb. for retroverted uterus with fibroids (pressing on my bowels causing constipation & gas pain starting at ovulation and lasts over nine days), also have a cyst on right ovary, and possible endometriosis. I'm going through the pain right now and will still be having it on the 23rd while I'm wheeled into surgery. I will be praying for you on your surgery day. Please pray for me on the 23rd! I pray this fixes my problems!

Re: Bowel Issues
My large fibroids pressed on my bladder, causing leakage and constant potty runs. They also pressed on my bowels causing to go frequently but with only little amounts coming out.....constantly gassy...both ends.
Thankfully I've had relief from both situations since my surgery. Sending prayers for quick recovery.
Rox

Re: Bowel Issues
Hello! I too have fibroids and a retroverted uterus with extreme anemia. I have always had bowel issues. I am on an iron supplement (Bifera) there times per day. I am taking Miralax 1-2 times per day to keep me somewhat regular. My hysterectomy is scheduled for March 18. If you have not tried Miralax you should look into it. Other laxatives cause me severe cramping and gas but Miralax does not and it has been the most effective - by far. Good luck to you in surgery and recovery! Hopefully, relief is just around the corner for us both!

Re: Bowel Issues
And you'll be doing more after surgery. and that's a big deal after surgery....passing gas and poo. Hubby was picking on me about a week or so after surgery because there was more farting than talking going on in the room. He said to me," You know, we're pass the point where you farting is is something to cheer about.", We had such a good laugh about that one.
