Hi! My name is Denise and I have been checking out this website, and gotten a lot of info so far. I am 41 years old and have a prolapsed uterus. My doctor's office is to call me on Monday with my surgery date. I am having a TVH with repairs to my bladder and rectum. I am having a lot of fear over this procedure and just wish it was already over with! I can see from many entries that the waiting seems to be the worst part. Anyone else out there have a hyster for this reason? I have put up with it for quite a while because I felt the symptoms were managable, however recently things have gotten much worse. Doc said I also have cyst on my cervix and a tumor in my uterus. I'm having an ultrasound on Tuesday. Any suggestions for me while I wait? Anything I can do now to make things easier for the surgery? Thanks for your help.

Denise, I didn't have a hyst for this reason, but I can say, in the meantime, read the board and post a lot. You'll find many of the questions have already been asked and you might find some of the answers by doing a search using the purple buttons above. Once you have your surgery date be sure to put it in your profile so that you can find others who are having on the same date as you.
And remember, no question and no subject is too embarrassing or offensive to ask. Someone, somewhere has already asked it or answered it or been through it.

denise.
I had TVH surgery for prolapse, May 15. The waiting for surgery was the hardest. My bladder and bowel had also been pulled down.
I am 56. Surgery was uneventful, trying to be a good punctured princess has been hard. the pillow police were at my house. Had a 2 wk dr. apt. but Dr. wouldn't lift my restrictions until 6 wk checkup. Only troubles I had were getting bm to start working. took a lot of softners. Drink plenty of water, and walk all you can.
Do no lifting and no housework until you get ok from dr.

Hi Cookie,
Well, I'm no help but I do have another suggestion. If I was going to have your surgery I would ask the exact same question on the POST OP side. Those girls have already had the surgery and can ease your mind.
And...while you are waiting for any major surgery eat healthy, exercise if possible and read, read, read.
I know alot of sisters have had your surgery..it's just the 4th of July weekend and many must be out having a good time. unlike some of us sitting next to the toilet and pads .
Best regards,

Hi Denise,
Welcome to Hystersisters!!
I had my hyst for the same reasons, and the most important thing that I found I needed (and didn't have in advance) was a donut pillow to sit on for the ride home and afterwards. If you have the same surgery as I, you will have an episiotomy-like cut and until that heals, it's uncomfortable to put any pressure on that area.
There are lots of pre-op and post-op hints found in the drop-down menus on the main page, too.
Please keep on reading and asking questions - we'll be here for you.
