What can I do? In feel great!

I had a complete hysterectomy on Friday, and while I have been in some discomfort I basically feel great. I have been told by my doctors not to work to stay home for six weeks.

As a breast cancer survivor who underwent six months of treatment, I do believe I have a high threshold to pain.

I am suppose to walk and rest, which seems like an oxymoron to me. I am the do or not do person...I have a hard time balancing out my activities

Any suggestions?

I meant I feel great by bored and confused.

I realize I might not be doing as great as I said in my post when I saw the typo. I am confused, am I suppose to lie around(not according to post op forum) walk or???? I feel silly just lying around.

What can I do? In feel great!

Hi,
My surgery was last Monday & yes, I too am feeling great. I am walking quite a bit, but am also resting. If I do a lot of walking, I then sit down and rest! Listen to your docs & your body!
Cheers,
Trishia

I also felt great a couple of days after my surgery. Please do exactly what the doctor says. Even tho you feel like this, it's Major surgery, rest and drink lots of water. I think I attempted to do the dishes by just standing at the sink for 10 minutes at 4 days post op, but I went right back to bed. At day 8 I went to wally world for a bit and was exhausted when I got home !!
Day 11, back to wally world and got tired again ! For the most part I stayed in bed. The doctor told me I could go to the store, but not for very long. Thats what I did. I still tire easily sometimes, so I rest. I hope your recovery goes smoothly !!

I am tellin you, the first coupla days home, you can get a false sense of feeling like you are able to conquer thew world! Dont do it!!! You will hurt yourself. The doctors dont make these rules to make you miserable. They know what is right for you and your body!!!So, and RELAX!!!! I will echo the words of the wise sisters on this site. I'm a breast cancer survivor, too. Frankly, the hyst was not nearly as bad as the mastectomy. I took it easy the first couple of weeks, now am pretty much back to normal except no heavy lifting. You do have to take care of yourself, but getting up and about helps you heal.

I'm with Meatball and Kathy! Please be careful and be good to your body. It's easy to hurt yourself this early in recovery. I had a really hard time behaving myself in the beginning because I usually don't sit still but after few days back in bed after over doing...I got the message. We only get one shot at this recovery. Take it easy.
