Make an appointment with your doctor and have a hormone level test done. It sounds like they're out of whack and you may need some help. I would think after all this time your ovaries would have woken up but you never know. Good luck, I hope you get a resolution soon.

Hi 97F150, I'm going in for a TAH on the 18th and the plan is to leave the ovaries in if they look good to keep me from going into instant menopause. The Dr. didn't mention any hormone treatment. Do the ovaries stop working? What symptoms have you had that you think might be hormone related? Now I'm getting nervous.

I had a TAH on Nov 7th, and kept my ovaries, and I have been extremely moody as well. Last Friday I went to the bathroom ,and I was bleeding, got into my doc only to find out my ovaries aren't working which caused the bleeding. They did blood work and my doc put me on a hormone patch, I've been on it for 3 days and my mood is alot better, so don't wait, call you doctor tomorrow. I also had other things like hot flashes and dryness, so if you have those you really need to call SOON

Barb,

Was there a reason your Premarin dose was increased? Sounds like you didn't have these problems on the .3mg dose. I am just wondering if the .6mg dose was too high for you. I had the same problem on the Climara patch when my dose was too high. I had horrific chest pains. Not sure about the vein problem though. Also, I can not understand why your doctor would increase your dose so soon. HRT can take a few weeks to a month to even out and for your body to adjust to. Changing the dose so soon is bound to cause more hormonal fluctuations and havoc. If it were me I would have stuck with the .3mg dose for at least three or four weeks to see if it was going to work for me. However, if this particular hrt is intolerable for you you shouldn't have to wait that long. Did your doctor suggest any other hrt options to try? Sometimes a transdermal approach like the patch works better for women, especially if you are having circulatory problems (ie broken blood vessels) with the oral dose. And with the patch there are more dosage ranges to work with. Just a thought. Sounds like you are really having a rough time of it. I hope you get the help you need and find something that works for you! You are in my thoughts.
