Did anyone not quite wait?

I did something BAD the other day. I have my six week appointment next Thursday. And well....my boyfriend and I fooled around today. I haven't been cleared for sex or anything, and he only went inside like a half inch or less. I didn't orgasm (because I don't know if I can do that either...GRRRRRRRR), but now I'm all worried I'm going to get some raging infection and you know, my vagina will fall off or something. I know I'm probably overreacting. But now I'm all afraid because I wasn't cleared by my doctor.

Anyone else not quite wait?

Re: Did anyone not quite wait?

My husband and I made 5 weeks and 3 days... couldn't wait anymore! No worries, everything was just fine. And we did it "all the way". Try not to worry too much!

Re: Did anyone not quite wait?

If you feel OK maybe no harm was done, but wait until you're cleared. People heal at different rates and you can rip out stitches or get an infection if you aren't healed yet. Your Dr should check before you go ahead. Why risk trouble. But have fun when you get the go ahead.

Hi!

Unfortunately, I've read posts by members who have had the vaginal cuff ripped open by having (full) sex before the doctor gave the okay. There's also a risk of infection by engaging in sexual activity too soon.

Please be sure to tell your doctor at the post-op appointment or if you have any problems in the meantime. Don't be embarrassed since it won't be the first time s/he has heard it, but it's very important to make them aware.

There's good information in this link: Post-Op Intimacy.

Sending all good wishes!

Re: Did anyone not quite wait?

I've read lots of stories about women here who just couldn't wait. And then they ended up being out of action for at least six months while fisutalas to their rectum healed; bladder fistulas healed, vaginal cuffs were ripped open OR they were in the hospital battling massive infections to an internal surgical wound that was not supposed to be exposed yet to the nastiness that is on the head of a penis.

Please wait. In fact, wait even one or two more weeks AFTER the date you were given. You've been through all of this, I can't imagine that sex is worth undoing all of the work your wonderful surgeon did.

I had my 6 week check up 5 days ago. My doc told me that he still saw two stitches in my cuff, and so I have to wait until 8 weeks post op, and THEN my hubby can only penetrate 3/4 of the way for another MONTH. Talk about frustrating. We have thought about messing around, maybe just doing it "half way"... etc. Honestly I understand exactly how you feel. It is so hard, especially when you are feeling good post op. I think if you have no pain and no bleeding you are probably safe. But I would tell your doctor at your check up just so he can check you. My doctor told me LOTS of people have sex before they are released to do so.... so you would definitely not be the first person. I honestly don't think at 5 weeks post op you are going to have anything falling out since he only went in half an inch. But please do tell your doctor!!!
