Re: Vey nervous...........this friday is the date
I'm having a LSH next Friday. I know about the anxiety, however, as I have had recently had two previous surgeries. All I can say is that you are going to be anxious. I was an anxious wreck weeks before my previous two surgeries. Strangely enough, I was very calm on the day of my surgery. I think I had finally worn myself out from worrying and from the bowel prep the previous day.
Anyway, I know how you are feeling. Hang in there! You will be on the other side sooner than you think.

Re: Any michigan sisters?
It's highly doubtful your doctor will release you back to work right away, and most employers will not accept you back without a doctor's release.
Please take the time you need to heal. You have only one chance to heal right, and this is it.

Re: Vey nervous...........this friday is the date
I am having a hysterectomy on the 30th so I'm waiting too. I just wanted to give my support and hope that everything goes just the way you planned. I know it's hard to put on the breaks when life has to go on, but these women here have given wonderful advise about not pushing yourself and making sure that you give yourself time. It can be hard, but try to follow your doctor's advise and don't go back to work too early so that you will be healthy when you do go back to work.

Re: Vey nervous...........this friday is the date
I am taking 2 weeks off. I hope I wont need more. My doctor said she had a patient go back in 3 days. I wont go that soon, but im hoping 2 weeks will be enough. Unfortunately, I havent really told my job what im doing. But I did tell them I was having "out-patient" surgery. Please pray for me everyone......I am most anxious about the anethesia. I feel like they will put me to sleep and I wont wake up.....I believe in God and I trust him, but I cant help but worry that this may be my "time to go"......

Re: Vey nervous...........this friday is the date
I am having my surgery on May 20th as well. The anxiety mounts and today I am packing (or rather putting off packing by doing anything but) I am going to try to stay calm today maybe do some activities I enjoy to take my mind off the castle stay.
I guess fear is normal. As far as going back to work in 2 weeks...I would say don't rush only do what your body tells you is ok. My doctor says 6 weeks to return to work for me..and I am a floral designer, so light work there just on my feet all day.
Good luck I will be thinking of all my fellow princesses

Re: Vey nervous...........this friday is the date
Hi all,
I am 2 weeks post op from an outpatient LAVH and thought I'd let you know briefly how it went for me. I too was terrified. It was my first ever surgery and the thought of the IV and being put to sleep with anesthesia was causing me great stress! I am a total control freak!
I was afraid of having to count down and all that but let me assure you, once they put the drug in the IV to 'relax' you, you are pretty much out after that and don't remember a thing until you wake up in recovery. And it TOTALLY relaxes you when you get it, so you're not feeling nervous. Seriously, I was surprised to wake up and know it was DONE!
I also thought I'd go back to work after 2 weeks, and everyone is different, but I can safely say, I was not ready after 2 weeks; not because of horrible pain or anything, but just because sitting up for long periods of time gets uncomfortable and it doesn't take much to 'overdo' after the surgery. You'll know what I mean when you get to that point. You just get tired very easily.
I can't tell you to not be nervous, because of course you are. I was too. But I still am quite pleasantly surprised at how good I feel for such a major surgery and I was in and out of the surgery center within 5 hours. Amazing.
Make sure you have someone around for the first couple of weeks to help you with EVERYTHING. Don't push yourself. And please come out to the 'post op' forums after your surgery. They are SO helpful!! Good luck to you and here's to a safe and quick recovery to you all! (((hugs)))

Re: Vey nervous...........this friday is the date
Hi babegurl..
I had an LAVH a week ago..and you will be no where near ready to go back to work any time soon!
I was sailing along feeling fine on day 4 and 5..and for the past 3 days have been feeling pain and all of it..sitting is even a chore. Just came back from the dr and going to and from was enough to do me in for a while.
I still have pain from the incision sites, and today it's like my brusing from my crotch area has decided to rear it's ugly head..
Take your time and heal properly. I thought I'd be much more mobile..nope.
let us know how you're doing!
good luck!

Re: Vey nervous...........this friday is the date
Hello ladies! My date is also on Friday. Had my pre-op appointment today; doc answered all my questions, then to the hospital for lab work, EKG, and chest X-ray. I'm very nervous! I've never been put to sleep, so I'm worried about that. I know that thousands of people are put to sleep every day, but it's something new for me.
So, I've been trying to stay busy. I've been washing sheets and clothes like a mad woman. I guess I'll be forced to pack my bag tomorrow. Also I got my lovely lemon flavored magnesium citrate that I have to drink tomorrow, so I figure I'll be spending most of tomorrow afternoon close to the "porcelain throne", HA!
I'm just ready for this to be over with. I'm trying to just think about how much better it will be when everything is done. No more pain every month, all month long.
Good luck ladies. I'll be praying for you, and I'll see you in the post op forums.

Re: Vey nervous...........this friday is the date
Hello everyone, I will be having my hyst next Thursday and I am anxious as well. I cant sleep very well and keep trying to find something to do where their is nothing to do. I have started going on walks everyday for the fresh air, exercise and clearing of the head and that seems to be helping. Today I went and bought new panties and stretch pants for post op comfy and was trying to decide if I would need one of them swelly belly things. I have mainly been trying to keep busy and remind myself of all the positive outcomes this will bring. As far as going back to work so soon after, I don't think its a good idea. I have heard many stories and all of them included low stamina for several weeks afterwards. Just be careful and allow yourself to heal properly. Best of Luck and prayers for quick recovery! Let us know how your doing.
