Car Travel

Hi. I had an LAVH on May 31st. I am due to travel about 5-6 hours on June 23rd (and then return on June 24th), which will be 3 weeks and 2 days post -op. If I continue to do well, does this sound ok? I see my doctor on Thursday, so I will run it by him, but I thought I would ask all of you. Thank you.

Obviously, doctor's advice should be taken and followed carefully , but if I had to do it today (I am exactly at 3 weeks today), I would probably feel like it under the following conditions--1) lots of pillows and a comfy car/seat to ride in, 2) allowed to rest after arriving at destination, 3) Stops for leg stretches, 4) Plenty of water/healthy snacks. I drove for the first time yesterday for about 2 hours worth of errands and was totally wiped out--but it might have been different as a passenger.

I went to Vegas for a week at 2 weeks post-op. Talked to the doc and he said ok if I felt like it. I had a good time and took daily naps.

Are you driving or are you the passenger? If you are the passenger, I suggest cushions or a pillow for support and recline the seat back a fair way. I was a passenger for about 2 hours on Monday (had my LSH on 19 May) and did ok with the seat well reclined.
